You will normally notice a weight difference in about a month, as long as you are on a strict diet and exercising.

I hadn't been to the gym in several months and had lost weight, due to my muscles disappearing. Weighing yourself isn't a good judge, if you feel good in your clothes thats all that matters.

If you train hard enough, you don't need to diet.

yeah if you take in too few carbs/calories then your body goes into meltdown (thats the technical term for it8O  ) and basically just stores all the food you do eat.........obviously after a while it has to use the stored fat for energy but thats why you might not notice any different.

muscle does weigh more........but you burn more calories in daily life if you build up muscle as the body has to work harder to support the heavier weight of the muscles.

@ drew - what are you doing under a rock??

A MONTH?! I'm going to be on the beach in a bikini in a month lets hope it notices before then lol.
Well if I keep to my diet fingers crossed I should start to see some results soon 8O

Well - it takes about two and a bit hours to get from mine to robders door to door lets say, robder lives approximately 17 miles above ground in the penthouse (higher than all other penthouses I've heard), and because the baby will be constantly dressed in revealing and sparkly lingerie that should mean it'll take 2 hrs and 17 minutes to fall to the ground as magpies circling the bunker will keep it aloft as they attempt to remove the sparkly bits.

It should be fine. Stop your worrying  (you mad dog lady  )

I'm just wondering why my baby would be dressed in sparkly, revealing lingerie!!! :?:p

my diet sucks! i had 1 slice of wholegrain bread with lo-fat cheesetoday, a bowl of kellogs with skimmed milk and bananas and then an apple. later on: 2 chokolate bars! whats WRONG with me????????????8O

If you are concerned about losing weight, diet alone will not give you any significant results. Start a cardiovascular exercise program. 20-30 minutes on a stationary, or jogging will do wonders for you. Set a goal in mind of how much weight you want to lose, and be realistic about it. Not knowing how fast your metabolism is, 2-3 lbs a month would be a good measuring stick to track your progress.

I actually started on mine about 2 weeks ago.. I've completely cut out Soda Pop all together, drinking ONLY water, haven't been to a fast food place, and hitting the gym for 2 hours in the morning and riding my bike 10 miles at night.

So Far I haven't lost a whole lot of weight, although it seems like I'm starting to look a bit thinner and feel a whole lot better (I'm actually sleeping at night, and getting up in the morning feeling good).

Still 8 Weeks from getting to Ibiza, so should have plenty of time to shape up before I get there. 8)

are you doing heavy weights? if you want to lose fat, you need to do heavy weights.. and none of this 25 rep-5 pound dumbell BS.. Remember the more muscle you have, the easier it is for your body to lose fat...

sure, if you're really overweight, doing lots of cardio will help, but i've found the only time i see any improvement is if I make sure i'm lifting and being consistent

and like others have said, its stupid to look at your weight... look at your bodyfat instead.. i don't care what i weigh, but do care about the bodyfat % i have.... you can have somone who weighs 20 pounds more than someone else, at the same height, but if one has more muscle and weighs more, they'll look better with less bodyfat.

Are you doing high intensity intervals during your cardio? i find its best to do any cardio first thing in the morning and weights in the evening after work

make sure your diet is clean too, don't cut calories, just make sure you're eating the right stuff... get some lean protein in at each meal, and try and eat 5- 6 small meals each day... drink lots of water..

also that advice about if you are exercising, you can eat whatever you want is a load of crap.. maybe for some lucky people who have a naturally high metabolism... but i've found that DIET (not going on A diet) is key... for me anyways... if i slack off for a few days it shows and i feel crap..

oh yeah and fat doesn't 'turn into ' muscle.. they're two completely different tissues!!

I have tell myself all this stuff too... just need to make sure I apply it all the time and don't get off track too much...(which i end up doing a lot!! ha ha) i should listen to my own advice!

Becki - I really wouldn't bother with the scales. I think I'd cry if I weighed myself. Even when I was at my fittest and not eating any rubbish and rock climbing and hiking loads, I weighed more than a lot of people would want to as I had loads of muscles in my arms and legs, but my clothes felt great and I didn't have any fat on me.

Sadly that was a while ago and now I'm also trying to get into shape for the summer. No idea if I even am going on holiday this year but if I do, it won't be until the end of July so I still have time!

As has been said, exercising and eating healthily are the best things to do. I have really noticed a difference to my appearence as well as my energy levels since severely limiting my alcohol intake...as hard as it is to do!

I lost 30lbs. in 45 days without spending a single minute at the gym. It was simply changing my diet. I went from a "32-going-on-to-33" waist to a 28 waist now. I am 30 and still shop in the boys section for swim trunks.

one quick tip:

Instead of dieting - just cut out your sin food, mine is crisps. and I can quite easily eat 3-4 packets a day (but I dont as I would be the size of a detached house) what I am saying is I generally have one packet a day, but I have cut them out of my diet - after 2 weeks of not eating crisps every day, (I also cut out white bread and swapped for brown) I lost 5lbs in 2 weeks.

If you can find something in your diet which you know is really high in calories ie; pop, crisps, biscuits, cake, white bread, white pasta, or even chocolate and you can manage to cut it out, I reckon you will see a significant difference.

Just smoke more cigarettes to stop you wanting to eat more...

PS I also swapped bottled lager for G&T (slimline) - almost half the calories!!

That's what i swapped over to.

Wine (and Beer) has an enormous amount of sugar content.

Even so - your liver converts ALL alcohol back into sugar so basically cut out the booze! (or continue but train harder).

Also (for those who train) - try and do 3 days resistance training and 3 days cardio. Try and aim to burn 400-500 calories each cardio session. I promise - you will soon see the results.

If you want to lose fat in such a short period, easy

Cut out ALL bad fats - NO GOODIES
weights one day - lift until failure
Next day let your muscles rest they need to repair, on this day 30 minute run, not jog, run!
Then weights again

Do this 6 times a week and leave one day for complete rest

Then in a months time you will lose 1/2 stone

If you are not sweating you aren't working hard enough, I want to hear grunts in the gym :)

or go on a complete leo for a whole weekend, job done. Svelte like body!
