I was gonna do Pure Pacha week before last but when Jeff Mills went awol at the pre party @ Mambo I was afraid he wouldn't be there so didn't bother :?:

i just posted a topic about this mate, and i can tell you he didnt turn up (i didnt realise he had gone awol from the pre-party)

Morillo filled in for him last minute, and played quite a good set, was just looking forward to Mills though! ah well, i loved the club!

You expect Mills and you get Morillo?

I bet there were some seriously hacked off people.

Did Jeff Mills dj at Manumission Opening from midnight till 3am? It sounds a bit unlikely to me, but the dj certainly looked a lot like him.

Mills was booked to play a house set........maybe he didn't want to play a house set so he just didn't turn up. I don't blame him.

Thanks! :D No wonder I couldn't find it in the dictionary. :P

But isn't it common that they don't turn up at the pre-parties?

Don't blame him!!!!

Plenty of people would have went just to see him!
and if he was booked as a house set then he would have known well in advance.

I didnt see too many hacked off people to be honest, though the night doesnt really attract all the raw techno heads, im sure they save themselves for Cocoon.

Jeff Mills i read in an interview bout 2 weeks before, knew the club 'favoured house music' and so he said he was going to 'tailor his music towards that'. But Pacha went ahead and put up posters everywhere saying: Jeff Mills (house set).

I'm pretty sure Jeff didnt see eye-to-eye over this, and threw a tantrum. He's known for doing the like in the past. Oh well, I hear he's one of the greatest dj's but im never going to go out of my way to hear him ever again. He could have at least told Pete Tong why he wasn't comming (whatever the reason was) and then they could have publised so. But ahh well, Mill's loss and Morillo's gain!!!!

he really IS one of the best djs of all times 8) absolutely fantastic...
but he is also definitely one of the biggest dj divas behaving as if he were a superstar like madonna or so...

digs

a little bird told me Mills' no show was nowt to do with a "house" set but all to do with accommodation arrangements. No pun intended.

Had a good night though Tong and Morrillo are not my bag really.

If you want to hear house music why book a techno dj anyway! :?
I couldn't agree more! I didn't realise he was booked to do a house set so I'm glad I didn't go. Don't get me wrong, I love my House but would have gone that night for some mental Techno which I think would have complimented Tongy et al :)
