I am currently just a bedroom dj, but will be burning off cd's to send out etc. I play mainly Progressive/tribal/tech house, with a bit of breaks and techno thrown in for good measure. Anyway I want to give up my part time bar job (holiday fund!) in order to get dj'ing earn some crust and that. I could easily get a job if I played the usual chart RnB, rap, Ian van Dahl etc.

I've always said that I would stick to my roots, and not give in to playing what I don't want to, but the wonga would come in handy. Don't think I could get too passionate about throwing down the sugababes lastest drivel, although mixed into Marco Bailey it might be alright  ;)

What are your thoughts?

Alrite mate,I'm a dj myself i used to go on 4clubbers alot think i recognise your name from there? due to things going on in my life ive let my dj'ing go really really quiet and i'm determined when i get back home from ibiza to get pushing again, anyway if it was me i would never be seen playing music that im not into because its just not who i am or the image that i wanna project and i also beleive i wouldnt be as good playing stuff im not into as my heart just wouldnt be in it!,i like the marco bailey idea :D a bit of crooked law or meditation would perk an ian van dahl tune right up!

what is in your heart more, money or music?

It's not always as simple as that.

Do you know the amount of 'top' underground dj's which started doing weddings/birthdays/bar mitzvahs etc?

I reckon you could do both mate

Each to their own i suppose but i wouldnt do it,id feel embarassed and probably wouldnt live it down if i played cheese

It would depend on how much i was gettin paid and who would find out.If all your doing is sending out cd's then you might aswell because the person will be hiring you based on that cd and not have heard you playing cheese. It's just a bit of extra money.
