Destroy Minimal

the last few times i've been to DC10 have not been minimal in the slightest - they've been really chunky techno and tech-housey.

the whole minimal bandwagon thing is such a non-event.

uh cmon thats the world cup song whole italy is singing at the moment. no wonder that they go wild in clubs when roger sanchez plays it

:D

That tune is White Stripes - Seven Nation Army (maybe some new remix) and it has been the "Ibiza tune" for the last 5 years. Every summer it will be played a lot...

Back to the topic, I find most of the minimal stuff quite boring. Ame - Rej is fantastic but I don't put it into "minimal" category...

I hate the word 'minimal' it's almost as bad as 'funky house'.

This isn't a new music fad...it's been around for years! 8O I've got stacks of techno mixes from the likes of Josh Wink etc in old fashioned tape format (remember those?) with plinky plonky bleepy build ups and samples that go on forever.

Personally I love it!...but admit there is a time and a place. Ministry box isn't one of them for example.
DC-10 is the perfect setting but then, so is the music! (just like anything, there's good and bad)

Love it, understand why people don't like it...but pleeeease can we bin the name?

I like to hear a complete mixture of music when I go out. Miminal for me is good for afterparties.

I agree, I dont think mimimal is the sound you want at the peak time on a night out, 3 to 5 for example.
Its perfect for when your brain cant function properly and all it can process are very simplistic sounds ;)

Completely agree. Richie Hawtin has been doing bleeps and pips for YEARS.

Everyone has their own tastes but I can't undertand why people can't get their heads around "minimal" (or stripped down electronic dance music - whatever) isn't full on main room music?

I've done some of my hardest RAVING to more stripped down music - it doesn't always have to be really BOOM BOOM BOOM obvious to make you dance.

but each to their own.
