the rock bar demiedo in la marina has a new electro/rock party called da da da with the contra rebel djs, a.k.a. colin peters (manumission) and justin tiempo (underground), every wednesday from june 21st
Da Da Da is the night run by the Contra Rebels DJs - also known as Colin Peters & Justin Field (resident DJs at Manumission and Carry On in Ibiza and others - see below for more info.) The idea of Da, Da, Da is based on the single released by Trio in 1982. The single has almost everything we like about music in its 6 minutes of glory. Wah guitar, casio keyboard effects, radio ga-ga pedal, electronic weirdness, nonsensical german vocals and of course a killer breakdown. The elements of this record embody the musical policy for the night, embracing music that is sometimes marginalised in Ibiza. Be it italo disco, nu-wave, rock, electro, hip hop: all is welcome. Creating a place where people can escape the rigid formula of music, where they can dance to sounds both known and unknown. Influences are drawn from late 70s / early 80s New York where there was a musical marriage of ideas that will echo through time. Even though disco was dying from its ashes arose the music we know and love today. However Da Da Da will showcase the finest new music from producers such as Jagz Kooner, Erol Alkan, Ewan Pearson, Inflagranti, BoyzNoise, Serge Santiago, Tomboy, Justice, Alan Braxe, Alden Tyrell, Digitalism, The Glimmers and Freeform Five. On the band side of things are Goldfrapp, Soulwax, Who Made Who, Hot Chip, Mystery Jets, The Presets Depeche Mode, The Strokes, ****disco, The Fratelllis, White Rose Movement and the Arctic Monkeys. Behind Da Da Da are Colin Peters & Justin Field whose DJ careers have developed in parallel. Both are residents at Manumission since 1998 and they were the first DJs in the infamous toilets where they spun crazy music for people who didn't let strong odours spoil their enjoyment of tunes ranging from Shirley Bassey to Lil Mo Yin Yang. The famous Funky Room in Pacha was another outlet for their DJ skills from 1998 to 2000. Both were residents at Bora Bora during the seminal 1999 - 2002 period when it went from a beach bar to a phenomenon. From June 2000 of Privilege, Colin and Justin flew from their stinky nest at Manumission and started playing in the newly opened Coco Loco room which quickly became the most fun room in the club. Justin played a balearic set, warming the crowd up with a brew of hip hop, breaks and all things leftfield. Andy Carrol and Smokin' Jo followed and Colin was granted the honour of the post dawn closing set where he wowed gays, straights, industry figures, dirty workers, celebrities and entirely unfamous people with his uniquely trashy mix of house, disco, rock and long forgotten classics of the 80s. Colin & Justin became residents at Carry On, the consistently amazing Tuesday morning party for Manumission. After so much time spent together in DJ boxes up and down the island they now enjoy a mutual love and understanding of all the previously mentioned music and artists. for more information about them go to: www.colinpeters.com or www.myspace.com/colinpeters1 information about Justin go to: www.jusrock.com or www.myspace.com/thehotnotes .
Er, Da Da Da might be off this week due to a bit of a dust up at last Wednesday's (July 26) party (the dates and some of the facts are wrong in the story below):
London rockers BOY KILL BOY have been involved in even more chaos in Ibiza, when, just days after the band wrecked a $1.8 million villa on the Spanish party island, they ended up in a bloody fight with a group of crazed Hell's Angels. The group's singer CHRIS PECK had such fun partying after the Ibiza Rocks music event last Thursday (20JUL06), he returned to the Balearic island on Saturday (29JUL06) for more high jinx. But he ended up fearing for his life when a night in an underground rock club went horribly wrong - and he has vowed never to return again.
He says, "It was going alright until a gang of Hell's Angels came in and trashed the place. "One of the girls we were with got a glass on her head and it descended into a bloodbath. "People were beating the s**t out of each other. It was totally surreal with THE FINAL COUNTDOWN playing in the background. "We got out in one piece but noticed a red handprint on the door which seemed like a sign to never return."
tomorrow colin and justin will be doing a session for ibiza sonica (6-7pm), the new station created by the ex-ibiza global radio igor marijuan and andy wilson!!
talking about the hells angels incident again, today theres an interview with chris peck from BKB on el mundo (done by dj toga 8) ) and he says that was the most rock'n'roll incident he has ever seen ! !
btw, he was at the jazz festival this weekend.....
yes kidz, the girlz are back. girlz skool moves from sin to demiedo, starting with a party next thursday and another one at some point in september. weekly parties start in october!!
