Decent places to eat?

Hi,

I will be returning to ibiza this September for my birthday for the second time. Can anyone recommend any decent restaurants to go for a nice meal for my birthday. We'll be staying in San Antanio and i dont mind a small commute in a taxi, but I dont really want to be trecking across the other side of the island either.

Cheers:D

Sa Capella is lovely and just outside San An http://www.ibiza-restaurants.com/sacapella/ Really nice for a special occasion, expect to pay around 50-60 euros a head.

If you want something a bit less fancy there is Kasbah up past Kanya, I've not eaten there for a couple of years but always used to enjoy it.

Similarly Coastline, I've not eaten there either for a while but really nice setting and food was good.

From the makers of Ibiza-Spotlight. Lots of recommendations.

If you look in the Ibiza Holidays Open Chat section of the forum, there was a big long thread with lots of recommendations. Try using the forum's advanced search function to find it.

As an aside, already planning restaurants for September? That's planning ahead!

Edit: agree with Babs re: Sa Capella. Really good food, gorgeous setting.

I had a quick go of that search bar but it didn't really bring much up but thanks for the tip, I'll try again. As for planning ahead, yea it is kinda early but I'm proper excited about returning to white isle but also...I'm bored at work lol. When we went in 2006, we went for a meal at Kanya for my birthday and although it was lovely, I fancied trying somewhere different this time as I spend most of my holiday there sun bathing and eating lunch etc.

Thanks for the help guys, it's much appreciated :D

Sa Capella's lovely but the food's extremely filling and rich, so maybe best not to go if you're heading out afterwards - as we discovered en route to Monza last year!

Also:
Sa Punta in Talamanca
Angelo in Ibiza Town
Sa Torreta in Ibiza Town

Es Ventall in San An is lovely. There was a large group in there last year when we went so a big group shouldn't be a problem.

you just can't better es ventall. fab food from the multi prize winning chef, economical prices - me and mrs el ste had 3 courses, two bottles of wine, a flagon of ale, coffee and chupitos for 38 euros on saturday!
easy to get to, friendly staff, open plan kitchen so you can see what's going on, and traditional ibiza cuisine with some superb modern twists PLUS the house white (free with your menu del dia) is a rueda - spain's fastest up and coming wine region.

when we were in on saturday there was a mighty roar from the kitchen and i said to the waiter has someone scored a goal in the euro championships and he said no, it was someone getting an electric shock trying to repair some equipment.

the only thing you don't get is magnificent sunset/cityscape/country views but then again, when you're with your loved one who cares? (that's what the wife says anyway)

Thanks again guys you've been most helpful. I'm almost spoilt for choice now - suppose theres nothing stopping us trying a few out if the prices are fairly reasonable. What time do these restaurants typically stay open / serve food til?

Best restaurants I have been to in San Antonio are Kumharas (on the bay, get one of the water taxis across) and a really nice fish restaurant on the beach at Cala Gracionetta. But I really recommend you go to one of the places on the streets just inside the gate to Dalt Vila or the Cardomom Club in Santa Eulalia - buses are cheap and plentiful so there's no reason to limit yourself to San An! Not so many buses to San Jose, but still worth the effort for tapas at Destino. Most places seem to stop serving when the customers stop arriving, certainly we have never been hurried along, even when we have only sat down after 11pm.

The Fish Shack is a novel but fantastic place.
It's basicly on the rocks just past Sa Punta around Talamanca bay.
Great food , great view .

I have waxed lyrical about the virtues of Es Ventall all over these forums- you really cannot get better value anywhere. The same food in the UK would cost between £50-£100 with smaller portions. The most I've spent in there is 80 Euros between three of us for 3 courses plus drinks. My favourite restaurant anywhere, ever. If only some of those snobs who baulk at the mere mention of San Antonio would venture there, they'd be amazed!
