in other words, you people that dislike him are in the minority.

What a load of bollocks. I forgot he held the most successful night on the island. Get real. Plus do you want to reform to be the majority? Why not just listen to Britney et all?

Yes, Dave Pearce may be remembered by some as a cap wearing, cheese playing, fat chav. But at least he will be remembered unlike most people...

And most people want to be remembered as a cap wearing, kebab eating gapped toothed chav?

You've really taken this debate to the pond. This was a debate, and a bit of fun but if kiddies can't have a sense of humour don't bother posting. I wouldn't give a toss if you started takin the mick its called banter.

Now for an insult you must be familiar with - your not coming to my party now nah nah nah na nah nah!! grow up

Rant over.

Dave Pearce should be (insert torture of choice here)

i think u all being a little harsh i love all dance music and just wish trance and house could get along in peace  i cant comment on dave pearce cuz ive only eva heard him on radio 1 but if he ever plays anything off of the 'national anthems' section of his weekday shows he cant be that talented..........

Why? Why should trance and house "get along"? Cheesy trance is an abomination that may end up killing dance music even if The Darkness and their ignorant teen fans don't manage it. In fact, trance is the repetitive-beats equivalent of The Darkness. They have no redeeming features whatsoever. They exist to annoy. So, seemingly, does Dave Pearce. Keeping lager louts out of better clubs when he plays in Ibiza may be his one redeeming quality. Whatever cheesy ravers from Swansea think. (The temptation to crack sheep and leek jokes here is irresistable, so I'll resist it.)

yea so paul van dyk one of the best dj's in the world is cheesy? and armin van buuren resembles the darkness? all i was trying 2 say was that all everyone in dance music trys 2 do is have a go at other genres. i love funky house and tribal house but am also a big fan of trance. so was there n e need 2 start a full on rant at me? i only wanted 2 state my opinion :(

I hope for his sake that van Buuren doesn't resemble The Darkness. I think even his most die-hard fans might get a bit of a shock if he turned up to dj in a zebraskin catsuit. Although, I suppose, anything could happen at a trance night ...
My rant was meant to be OTT in a tongue-in-cheek way, in keeping with the knockabout spirit of this hugely entertaining thread. There's nothing like a good mutual slagging-off session among musical obsessives, whatever their tastes. It's not just all about the love, as we can see.
But seriously, one of the most enjoyable things about Homelands for me was that I managed to avoid Van Dyk and the other trancemeisters completely, even though the promoters failed to do the decent thing and quarantine them in a tent at the far end of the site. Friends tried to convince me to listen to Faithless (risible pompous trance-lite) but I bunked off and jumped around to Morillo instead.

i wish i could go 2 homelands i would love 2 c morillo play i bet he rocked? was choo choo romero there? as soon as im 18 i will b straight 2 homelands :D

Woah

this is fun, i can remember when Dave Pearce used to play on Radio London.

Then he went to Kiss

Then like a lot of Kiss dj's, Judge Jules, Danny Rampling etc, he got poached by big bad Radio 1.

The scandal used to be that he could't mix and used to have a 'friend' who mixed all the tunes he picked (allegedly).

Fact is Big Daves gone the route of most of the Radio One djs since the year dot.

Once they start earning the money they have to toe that corporate line that your licence fee pays for, they make extra by personal appearances and running their own nights.

At that point they have to appeal to the masses and that's easily digestable 'whatevers the most popular at the time' music.

Point of fact, Judge Jules, wicked funky sets and used to play at the original warehouse parties ala Norman Jay.

Won't even pay for the deposit on his next Porsche, so, play whats popular, play to the masses, use Radio One as a vehicle to promote himself and his own tunes, and the genre that's paying his mortgage.

I'm so bored now even with Pete Tong, every week, same old usual suspects, same old bodies, bloody hip hop etc, and he's still A+R for London Records, so guess which side his bread is buttered!!

And that's all i've got to say.

One thing I think everyone has missed during this conversation is that it's SLINKY and Dave Pearce. Now I really couldn't give a monkey's about him on his own, but Slinky is an absolutely blinding night in Bristol and Bournemouth, so I reckon if you avoid the cheeze meister, you'll really enjoy the night anyway. See you in the VIP area on July 2nd 8)
