A big thank you to funkyhousekitten for proving my point about snobbyness. Look love, I'm not into DP either but I deliberately didn't mention this when I wrote my piece just to see if I could find someone like you who would pigeon hole people like me that don't support their viewpoints. I'm guessing from your name that you are into what you call funky house. Once again let me re-iterate, all dance music genres would never have developed as they did in the UK if it were not for pioneers like DP bringing the Chicago and New York sounds of the mid-late eighties back across the Atlantic and securing airplay on radio stations. No matter how little you like his sets or radio shows this is why anyone that likes dance music (including YOU) owes the man a great deal of respect, but all you can do is slate him from your bandwagon. Notice that none of the DP fans hit back by picking on the worst house DJ around to basically express their dislike of the house genre. You never see posts on this forum about how cr*p any other DJs are as it seems only trance hating house kids do this sort of thing and DP is the easy target for them as he is the most commercial. I could easily reel of my list of not so good DJs but It IS “all about the love” for some folk.

If you think Dave Pearce is sh.ite and need to slag him, his music and his caps off you obviously think he should give up playing the tunes he does (and in doing so stop earning millions of pounds a year).
Fact is that he caters for a huge audience out there that is relatively untapped and makes a lot of money out of it.
I agree he is not one of the most talented DJs in the world and that several of the DJs on the board here would wipe the floor with him but he has a niche which works well for him and just judging by the amount of people that buy his cds, go to his nights and listen to his radio show, I think hes doing a pretty good job.

Heres a question for all you Dave haters - if you went on a 'blind' night out (ie. just went to a club without knowing what or who was on), and you didnt actually make a point of looking who was spinning (ie. you couldnt see the cap and rolls of fat), would you honestly be able to tell that it was Dave Pearce playing? Because anyone who has seen him spin a live set recently (NOT on the radio) will know that he is damn good at what he does, and I would even go as far to say that you wouldnt be able to tell whether you were listening to Jules, or PVD, or any other DJ many people regard as 'better'. Whenever I have seen him, he hasnt missed a beat, all his mixing has been near flawless (no DJ is flawless), and he has played exactly the tunes that the crowd wanted.
People pay too much attention to HIM rather than what he is actually doing.
Question for FunkyHouseKitten and Chewie - how many time have you actually gone and seen Dave Pearce play live in the past, say...2 years???

FYI i am noone's "LOVE".
I am a young woman who knows what she likes- and i have my opinion of what is quality and what is trash and I am entitled to express it as and when i want. I'm not thrusting it onto anyone i'm meerly expressing what i think. If you dont like it ignore it!!!!
If you call me a snob then fine, i'd rather be a snob then jump on the Eden 'bandwagon'. People who dish names like 'snob' and 'arrogant' are usually jealous because someone can look outside of the general pidgeon hole of what is forced onto the masses (eg- Radio 1 prime time, top of the pops, the charts etc) and actually make an informed decision on what they like and what they do not.

FunkyHouseKitten, you didnt answer my question - how many times have you seen Dave Pearce live in the past 3 years????? I really wouldnt mind you posting opinions if you could actually back them up (ie. I went and saw Dave live and his mixing was terrible), but from what Ive read you just have a vendetta against Dave Pearce (and trance in general for some) without actually having been to a live event in ages.

Also went toi the Ministry @ Dome NYE 2000-1 too... he was "headlining" the main arena, when his set comprised of stuff mainly off his label!
