Oh you poor thing....x
If you have the erge to dance you are half way there. It's frustrating when you feel like you can't quite get it right. I had a chat the other day with my friend about this very same thing.
Most people, I believe, will go through fazes of dancing ability. For ages you get it right and feel like you can dance well. Then, suddenly, you lose it. It might take a few months of feeling like you stick out like a sore thumb but, eventually, you get it back again.
Start off by practicing in your room to your favourate music. All you have to do is feel the music and move with it. If you are a complete novice, start just by nodding your head to the beat. Then put most of your weight on your left leg and bend your right knee to the beat along with your head. Do this for long enough and you will start to get into the music and want to move about more. Try moving your body from side to side, to the beat, while nodding your head. Don't forget about your arms....lift them up move them to the beat. Try to use every part of your body, including your head. Once you have cracked dancing on the spot with your feet planted, see if you can keep to the beat while moving about.
Keep your body relaxed, smile and stay fluid not rigid. The more you move to the beat, the more you will enjoy dancing and the more comfortable you will feel.
Dancing is really just a way for you to physically enjoy music. It's also extremely good excercise and releases endorphins which make you feel happy. Scientists say that if you dance regularly you will live longer!
Bear in mind that everyone else is concentrating on their dancing and will probably not be focused on you....unless you look like you are having the best time in your life!
Just enjoy it
