DANCE MUSIC FOR ADULTS

if you're gonna put a mix up for downloading you gotta be prepared to take some criticism.

i haven't criticised your mix at all, just thought the tracklist looked like "MY TOP TEN TUNES OF THE SUMMA". Bad me for not listening first.

you have to admit though, your subject title kind of drew the sarcasm out of people ;)

twas good for one thing though, most folks who post mixes might get 2 or 3 replies. at least your subject drew people in!

Great mixing but a bit too anthemic in content for my liking.

I'm a bit fussy though.

Cheers. It was the last hour and i like to blow them up.

Only 4 tracks in the last hour had actually been released, so fatphilb`s point....sorry, but its hardly big hits, more likely becoz its the last hour its what i would call "more accesable" to the dancefloor, than self indulgent to the point of monotony.

;)

1. Pendulum - Slam (Intro)
2. Faithless - Insomnia 2005 (Radio Edit)
3. Michael Gray - Borderline
4. Roger Sanchez Feat Gto Sanchez - Turn On The Music (Axwell Remix)
5. Phillip B V's Todd Terry - Can U Feel It
6. Tom Novy - Your Body (Club Mix)
7. Hi-Tack - Say, Say, Say (Tocadisco Mix)
8. Meck - Thunder In My Heart Again (Catamarans Re-Edit)
9. Tocadisco - You're No Good For Me (Tocadiscos Recover Mix)
10. Eurythmics - I've Got A Life (David Guetta & Joachim Garraud Mix)
11. Switch - A Bit Patchy (Kenny Dope Mix)
12. Bob Sinclair Ft Gary Pine - Love Generation (Club Mix)
13. Martin Solveig - Jealousy

Not big hits? Are you joking?

And for adults?

14. Bugs Bunny - Closing That's All Folks

Is your stage name DJ Sarcasm?

If anyone can tell me how to get it without having to go through the registration boIIocks I'd be interested to hear it, but really...

I take that as a compliment from somebody who uses Madonna lyrics as ther signature.

:P

Stop it now.

I could really go to town on you but I wont. Save these few points...

Tell me, what exactly was going through your mind when you wrote "Dance Music for Adults"? As opposed to what? What makes this particular mix "for adults"?

Apologies if my criticism isn't particularly constructive (it's my own unique style ;) ), although I hope you bear in mind some of the points raised...

And Jeembo - I suggest you pipe down, eh? I said exactly what you did, only in a style that some people may find a little amusing, and with a little more backbone, you pussy.

If you can tell me there's some seriously inventive mixing going on, or he's got loads of unlisted acapellas in there, then I can't really see what I'm missing.

You should remember that I don't actually dislike the tunes, only let's not pretend it's something it isn't.

As i asked for an opinion on the mix, not the actual tunes in it, and as you havent actually heard the mix then your opinion is rendered invalid. Im quite confident that my technical proficiency in front of 1200 people enjoying the aforementioned mix, would be satisfactory.

Its a mix for adults, as it was recorded in a club for over 18's, and i hate to stress the point here, but if your over 18 you're generally percieved to be an adult, hence the title "dance music for adults" as thats who it was played too. Im payed to entertain them, not disappear in an anally retentive and self-indulgent musical illusion. As they pay my wages and at £8 a head they deserve a good nite, its my job to give them that, so i do.

Any further delusional comments will only be entertained if you actually take the time to listen to what your commenting on.

But thanx for your input, its nearly as entertaining as the mix you've dismissed without hearing.

I appreciate wat your saying and as i used to live in dundee, or scumdee as i used to call it, im willing to forgive you...lol.

Im more interested in what people think of it technically than the tunes in it, i could have been self-indulgent, but im payed to entertain, and hopefully thats wat i do.

Cheers.

*sings*
You can’t always get what you want
You can’t always get what you want
You can’t always get what you want
But if you try sometimes well you just might find
You get what you need

Where do you play and where was the mix recorded? Maybe that would give us an idea of the adults this house music is aimed at.

IMO track selection is far more important than technical proficiency. (ask Norman Jay or Tim Sheridan)

You asked for comments on the mix and you didn't mean your beat matching or use of loops/effects, you meant the music - hence the comments on the track selection.

Compare your track selection to peoples charts in the music pages and you'll get an idea of why some felt that the mix is a bit obvious musically.

Just my thoughts.

My two cents...

Not bad technically mate, but the track selection, as others have said was a bit predictable.

But then ive heard pretty much all those tunes all summer and they're beginning to grate on me, particularly love generation

make it harder!! : )

I'd add that unless you really thought we might suspect you'd been recorded live at and under 13's disco, the 'for adults' bit was meant to set your mix apart from other less 'serious' mixes. The track selection just doesn't do that, in fact it is exactly the sort of 'hits-by-numbers' mix your title appeared to deride, hence the X-man's (rather enthusiastic) criticism.

Opposed to Sloganizer, eh?

Not that I've looked to much into it, but am I wrong in thinking it's a webpage which changes your "Morbyd is great/Morbyd will change the world/Morbyd loves little boys" line (although JUST like everyone elses?)?

Well, why don't you change it to whatever football team you're supporting this week? Or what country you profess to be your "homeland"?

And the madonna sig would have gone years ago save these 3 points...

A) I think people who change their sig every week (unless used for promotional purposes) are weak themselves. My sig is part of me.

B) It proffers the irony of being a seemingly throwaway pop-song, yet with the rave-y happy-clappy feelings of "us" clubber who JUST WANT TO DANCE, MAN (though you lot (assuming you're from the US) and irony were never the strongest of bedfellows...)

and, more importantly,

3) I got a PM (and the morals of quoting private messages don't sit too well with me, so I'll apologise in advance) from none other than djeddieecstacy (anyone remember him?) saying, and I quote:

djeddieecstacy said:
Dude,

You gotta tell me what song those lyrics in your signature are from. I know I've heard them before, but i can't think where.

They're deep, man.

Peace

To which I somwhat deflate dhim by saying they were from Madonna, to which he replied...

You can take thoughs lyrics, have a guy with a brit accent read them as they were just words, and put it in a house track, and it would totally rule!!!!

Which has been my most personally funniest moment in Spotlight history

I could see it working in a Green Velvet La La Land kinda style :D

The fact you use the word pussy amuses me. Are you American? Dyslexic? Gay?

As I say, listen to it first then judge it you pretentious jobby jabbing twat!!

How and what does the use of the word pussy reflect my Amarican/Gay/Dyslexic-ness (which I'm sure are all area's of society which are of great derision to yourself?)

I know every single one of those songs (ok, perhaps bar the edgy Michael Gray one, but with a history of "Weekend", and a 100 Full Intention remixes, I'm not holding out for anything to directional).

So, I say again, just what am I missing? Would the mixing put an old schooler hip-hip grandmaster to shame?

As I said, I'm not saying I don;t like the tracks, I'm just saying he should call it what it is.

If your gonna ask my opinion, I'm gonna give it.

Stop me if I'm wrong?
