I herd last year that some hotels where chargeing a new tax, between 2-5 euro's a day is thsi still the case?

Ecotax, yes. Rate depends on the star rating of your hotel.

I paid 1 euro a day last year in a Fiesta hotel and they immediately gave me vouchers of equal value to spend in the bar.

The one I stayed in is way up in Es Cana and is no good for proximity to the clubs but there are several in Playa d'en Bossa and it is a Fiesta company policy
