I was just looking at the stats on the site I use to host all my photos and stuff and I realized that this:

got something like 11000+ hits. Then I checked the referring site list and it became apparent that people saw it posted on here (in the Bora Bora/Amnesia/DC10 thread) and have posted it in a couple dozen forums all over the world 8O (mainly German and UK, though also Ireland and elsewhere).

Now, I realize that by posting it on here I was opening myself up to that, and I'm more than happy to do my part in helping to inform the Ibiza clubbing public, but....

Would it be really dickish of me to take the photo down now? I'm sure I'm nowhere near exceeding my file transfer bandwith allowance but one never knows with these things!

As an aside, interesting seeing how this issue was discussed on other forums.

assuming you have your own real or virtual server, you could create a .htaccess file which you could then block certain IPs or URLs from hotlinking that image...but it would stay up on your site.

google anti-hotlinking and .htaccess to get more info...
 
Ya, I've used .htaccess to prevent access to certain directories

But anti-hotlinking photos would kill all the fun of being able to post photos and things on other sites when I want to (or make me go edit the file whenever I want to post a new file). That's no fun :?

Tbh man, you uploaded a pic from your own server that pretty much tells the story of the closures at a single glance. Judging by how popular this story was on here, what did you expect?!? I honestly didn't realise it was from your own server, thought you would have just imageshacked it!

Just think, Morbyd gets a message across to thousands of clubbers worldwide. You should be proud man, more attention than any of your threads on here ever got!

I was just surprised to find I had all these links to my site, and moreso to find out they were just linking to that photo.

To be honest, I didn't think about it at the time I posted it (I was more concerned what was going to happen on my June trip to the island!)

I've now checked and apparently I have a monthly bandwith allowance of 1 terrabyte 8O8O and have only used up 211 megabytes this month (0.02%) so nothing to worry about. The file shall stay! 8)
