Do elaborate, do you mean on a specific airline or amex? I was thinking of doing Wed 13th to Mon 18th and round trip is damn near $600, i found this shocking since i booked last year in like sept and only paid $450

yeah its only 20K miles each way on most/all US airlines to go to Mexico.
If you have credit card points that you can transfer (such as Amex), transfer to British Airways. British airways has the best points deal at 10k points each way (20k round trip) from JFK. The day doesn't matter. The flights are technically through American Airlines, but funny through the American Airlines website it's 35k points for the round trip.
10k each way via BA. Most others is 17.5k each way.
ah the BA Avios 'trick' w/American. I do that out here flying LA to Vegas or SF for only 4,500 miles each way
(was 3,500 miles earlier this year).Doesn't work for all routes and you have to be able to earn or transfer into BA Avios miles which not everyone can do. also they raised their first class redemption miles a lot in the recent devaluation.
and yeah i had 20k miles each way on the mind for some USA - Central/South American redemptions i've done/planning.... Mexico prob is a bit less like you said.

I've just got back from Pasha this morning and was about to start a thread grumbling about this very subject. Everyone shining the LED camera light in your face as well - very very annoying!
