The 'what have you been jumped on by' thread reminded my experience in Dominican Republic.

Sudden change of weather from scorching to thunderstorm led to every, and I mean every, creature on the island hatching. White walls of hotel room couldn't be seen for the blanket of flying things covering them. Storm left puddles everywhere in side and out and each puddle had a thick scum of drowned crawlies on top. The outdoor buffet was completely covered in insects and giant cock roaches were leaping and bouncing off peoples backs. I saw huge insects I've never seen again since!

Rest of the holiday was nice though.

Where I lived in Sydney there were spiders as big as yer head and could kill ya just by lookin' at ya etc etc

Imagine how nitefly feels. everytime he encounters a bug, he turns into Doug McClure.
 
The storm only lasted about three hours and they were still clearing away thousands of insects a day later.

The then Mrs B was not happy I can tell you! I had to exterminate the wall blankets with a lighter and an aerosol.

Cockroaches - scare the living crap out of me.....

In Hawaii - we had a cockroach in our apartment - it was sooooo big even Mr PL got a scare - he tried to put a pint glass over it and slip some paper under and chuck it out the window (because of the scary stories about killing cockroaches and once they are squished all of the other cockroaches in the whole wide world smell their dead friend and come out to investigate - no idea if this is true but this is the equivalent of the Bogeyman story for me!!!! 8O 8O eeek!!) anyway, he put the pint glass over it walked off to get some paper, the cockroach was so big that its back end and its feelers where sticking our from under the glass - then it knocked the glass off itself and scarpered. Cue - one petrified puppy jumping around on the bed, screaming, stark bollock naked - like something out of a dodgy "Confessions of a ........." film, when security looked in through the french doors to see what the hell was going on...

I HATE cockroaches.... uurrrgghh!!!

Its quite normal for me to be seen embarrassing myself or those around me on a regular basis - I act first - think later..... :D :D

Ah yes... showing up in sleeping bags, popping out of shoes... talked to a boy I dated who is out there, and he said about a month ago he woke up and found one as big as the palm of his hand just chillin' on his chest!!!
