Cream @ Amnesia - Ilegally Busy?

EVERY review of this night (regardless of personal tilt on the music played) says that it's too busy to dance/move/think/see.

I know that last year the authorities were supposed to be checking on numbers in the clubs with the power to fine them for exceeding their capacity.

I do like Amnesia as a club, in fact it's my favourite but could you imagine if there was a fire in there and everyone needed to get out in a hurry????????? Surely they are breaching safe levels in there.

I know they need all the money they can get these days but I'm surprised that nothing has been done about it yet.

That's what I wrote in my review. I'm the type of guy that, no matter what the problems are during a night, I'd like to stay till the end... even if it's to stand and listen to the music. But, you know it's bad when I'm telling my group to get the hell out of Paul Van Dyk because the place is too busy. I swear there were 8000 in the 4000 cap club (referring to August 1).

What's this??? Nightclubs in Ibiza flouting the rules to line their own pockets? Putting their greed above clubbing customer's comfort and safety?

I just caaaan't believe it!!!

Oh well, yes I can.

My advice, help Amnesia keep below their safe capacity limit and DON'T GO!!! They obviously haven't the heart to turn anyone away (unless they've got a [shock-horror!] camera!!!) So if everyone turns up, they'll just be getting Amnesia in BIG trouble and may reduce their ability to rake it in next year!

Just a thought!

Can someone tip off the relevant people for the night on the 22/8 - then there may be some room for me when I go there the following week - well, I may not. [/code]

A couple of years ago we went to Cream @ Amnesia for both the Thursdays we were there and each time it was unbearably rammed, you couldn't even get into the main room and if you did there was no room to dance and it was so unbelievably hot. We said after that we would never go to Cream @ Amnesia again and we haven't.

Instead of moaning about it people should make the decision not to go, there are millions of other things to do in Ibiza so why spend 1 night out of 7/14 rammed into a sweathole like animals  ..........if everyone who had a shite night at Amnesia had this attitude then maybe Amnesia would actually do something about it.

The annoying thing is that Tiesto and Paul van Dyk are 2 of my favourite DJ's. Carl Cox is also oon, but that's supposed to be rammed too.

Yeah that is the thing this year I would love to have got my trance pants on for a night and seen a bit of Tiesto or PVD but then I think is it worth it cos I know I will have a $hit night

Is it likely to be as busy at the beginning of September? I think I may be deluding myself that everything will be getting a bit quieter by then... Cream @ Amnesia is one of the nights I have planned, but like people have said, I'd rather do something else if it's going to be so busy (I'm pretty short, especially in my flat dancin' shoes, and as being able to breathe tends to improve my nights out, heavily crowded places are not good!)

Nic (wondering if she should take a snorkel)

Well I'm 6'3" and the most annoyoing night I had at Amnesia was a very busy Godskitchen in 99. A very short and dainty Chinese girl was dancing in front of me, in a style that involved elbowing me in the pelvis and groin area rather a lot.

Not only that but I couldn't dance with my legs as I would have kicked her and I couldn't move my arms as I would have hit her in the head. So I had to stand there being subjected to assault . To top it all, I permanently had people pushing into the back of me but I had to be very careful not to move into her because I would have squashed her flat. She probably thought it was great being somewhere so busy but having room to dance.

When Sonique came on I had no option but to go back to my hotel for some sleep catchup.

There is never a quiet night @ Cream, I've been in June, July, August and September and it's always rammed.

Sounds like you were well in for a bit of the rough stuff there Jonny!!! ;)

Who's to blame - Cream as Promoters, or Amnesia as the premises?? My experience is that Cream take some beating as the biggest greedheads on the scene. NO wonder they've had to shut down in Liverpool, because they kept charging top dollar for second-rate cack.

After closing down in Liverpool they are effectively now just a brand earning from their name, without actually giving anything back in terms of innovation or development, apart from one-offs like Creamfields (wooo! a festival - how revolutionary   )

If no-one can be arsed going to the big name clubs in England, why bother going in Ibiza?

LMAO at JonnyDP's experience - sorry!

I'm actually 4'10". (Er, but not dainty.) I'd never considered the effect my limbs may have on other dancers - despite my 6'2" male chum banging on to me on several occasions about the perils of women with rucksacks in clubs (should be illegal, apparently).

I suffer from other people's elbows too - although generally to the nose / eyes / chest (ow!!!). It would have to be a very peculiarly shaped man to elbow me in the groin!!! Ah, that'd be the kind with knuckles dragging on the floor - just the type I usually attract. ;)

I was literally a hair's breadth from getting a broken nose at Global Gathering just recently - as luck would have it I just pulled my head back a millimetre, just in time to miss being clonked in the nose by a very forceful elbow.

I don't know - what can we do? Maybe they should have segregated dancing areas - shortarses in one room, beanpoles in another. Better for my dancing / breathing - but not so good for my letching! 8)

Nic (now thinking along the lines of stilts, rather than snorkel)

I was there the same night, and I totally agree. I was looking forward to this night, as it was my first time seeing Tiesto, and I haven't seen PVD since 2000 at Twilo (why the hell did that place ever shut down????), and I had to leave a little into PVD's set, never mind dancing or moving, it was difficult to breathe.....and when I left, I saw a line that was still extremely long, and getting longer, with noone being turned away.

maybe cream should move to privelege, it must be one of the few nights that could fill the place (still wouldnt go though)

very very very good idea, get rid of them to privelege. they can let in as many beer boys as they like there.

then Gods Kitchen can move back into Amnesia (won't happen)
