country bars

it's nice to get out of the big city every now and again and i like to go to ca'n muson de sa vila to rid myself of the stresses and strains of living in Ibiza.

this little bar and barbecue restaurant is on KM15.4 (just by balafi)on the road from ibiza to portinatx and is more commonly known as juanito's.

the food is reasonably priced and delicious, and the hierbas which they make themselves is out of this world.

here are two photos.

and the patio/garden where they have the grill

there's also a log fire inside when the weather's cold!

That looks beautiful Stephen!!! Nothing nicer than sitting on the terrace smelling the meat cooked on the outdoor grill too I bet !

Noted the name of this place .. certainly going to go !

It looks lovely .. and very traditional ...
The point of this reply is, as much as I would love to go there (the girls would love it as they're used to the smaller Greek Islands and the peace and traditional atmosphere there), Mike WONT hire a car ... I suppose it's too far really for a taxi from Playa D`En Bossa Stephen?

taxis from pdb are unrestricted in the distance they can travel.

however you could get the bus to santa eulalia and use that as your sightseeing base one day and take a taxi from there.

there's plenty in santa eulalia to keep you happy for a day and have a lunch break in the country

Thank you ... good idea .. will work that into the week somehow !

why not combine it with a las dalias or es cana market trip.

btw driving in this area is a doddle.

my advice always is - if you're going to hire a car why use it to go to ibiza town etc - get out to the places where the buses and most other people don't go to!

That's what we want to do Stephen .. get into the interior a bit and just enjoy the scenery and maybe stop for drinks and nibbles at some little place !

The girls are going to get a bit of a shock when they see Ibiza I think ... not saying that they wont enjoy it, but it's vastly different to where we usually go and is going to be a bit of a culture shock I think! It woul dbe nice for them to know that there are places on the island that aren't touched so much by commercialism!

half the island is still virgin forest!

most of the rest is agricultural.

in other words - a small percentage is touched by commercialism.
you don't have to travel very far to get away from it.
