Costa Sur Awful reviews?

i agree about this thread - it is very useful, kenty, good decision to go elsewhere.

if anyone else is looking for budget and trustworthy, then try some of the small n friendly hotels and hostals in our site :)

all family owned, and highly recommended.

Thats great to see. I have always found a more authentic Ibiza welcome at the smaller family run hotels and Hostals.

I Think you may have to change the word "Hostels" to Hostals before people get the wrong idea. Its a misconception that the smaller hotels need to do something about. (DONE - james)

I stayed in the Costa Sur for a few days last year - GPS owned and while i was there 2 rooms had been broken into. We Stayed in the San Remo (Again GPS owned) and quite a number of rooms had also been broken into.. the same happened with another GPS hotel further down the road. It has to be an 'inside job' as no forced entry was made on the robberies in the San Remo. This year we have chose the Rosamar which has top reviews and can also be booked on this website.

Kenty,

Why don't you consider stopping over at the other side? I find San An Bay too family orientated. I usually stop over at Cala Gracio just along from Calo des Moro. Its quiet here but close enought to walk to sunset strip etc. Its great place. You are also close to Cala Gracio beach and the there is the bus to town too. I usually stop at El Coto. Great small complex with 20 odd apartments. Its cheap and chearful and does the job.

Get Travel Republic to change your booking. I got them to change mine when I was going to Tenerife earlier this year. I read the reviews online of the place I was suppose to be staying and all reviews were fairly negative. So I got them to change my booking. There was a £20 admin fee but at least it will give you peace of mind.

Not all people post bad hotel reviews online. I always post honest reviews wheather they be good or bad.

Good luck! Think you'll need it!

I feel i must say something

As most of you know I have ran the pink panther bar in san antonio bay for 20 years, and obviously I have a lot of regulars and reccomended customers, because of this they want to stay near the bar, and I have a lot of gps run hotels on my doorstep ie, san remo,xaloc,estanyol... which I happily reccomended up until recent years.. now I only reccomend family run hotels.. ie tagomago, bergantin.
I have heard every week horror stories of room thefts even to the point of people coming in using keys and putting blankets over peoples heads... i am talking every day thefts obviously inside jobs, all these people are told by hotel reception it is not there problem and i have driven many ....many... people to the police station to fill reports in yet it is still happening daily.. all these people swear never to come to ibiza again.. in fact its getting to the point where its very unusual for some one not to have things stolen... and locking things in your case in no help they take cases, because no one is stopping them....

Ditto about staying in Cala Gracio... we stayed there one year and it was lovely. So quiet, much better than the San An side!

GPS v Rosamar

We came back from our holiday at the Rosamar (stayed there 2nd week August) and it was FANTASTIC - This is one of our first non GPS holidays we have been on in the last few years and what a difference. No noise at night, spotless rooms, great staff and entertainment and you feel SAFE!!! No worry about your room being broken into - reception is fully manned and has a video wall of all corridors leading to your rooms. Great place for all ages - and we timed our walk up to the Pink Panther area of the bay (which is the area we spent most nights) and it was a 10 minute walk MAX. Don't risk having your holiday spoilt by thieves - DON'T STAY IN A GPS RUN HOTEL!!!!! Ibiza is a fantastic place to visit.. year after year we go back - plenty of hotels and apartments are offered via the Ibiza Spotlight website.. book with them for peace of mind.

Another one to avoid is the Club Maritim. Read some terrible reviews about this place. We had booked to stay in the la sirena in the bay and the company we booked with (Alpharooms - AVOID) tried to move us to the Club Maritim 3 days before we left.
We were having none of it and eventually got a refund off them and booked elsewhere. Avoid GPS at all costs.
