Opinions please - if the lockdown is lifted, is travelling morally sound? It's been suggested to me that my potential family Tenerife might risk bringing infection from our badly managed isles to somewhere with less of a problem. I countered not, as we'll need to test negative before departure, but am I just believing what suits?
if you stick to the guidelines and keep to the same standards of practice as you have been doing at home I believe it should be guilt free. too many are relying on the return of tourism for people to feel bad about it ..things can be done safely and the measures are in place so Id go for it mate

Speaking of travel, been debating Tulum for the last month. Looks like one of the best escapes in the world right now if you’re not too worried about the small chance of ending up in a Mexican hospital due to Covid.

Yes they still seem to be going ahead with the parties, I have no idea what covid is like there... I wonder what measures they will have in place

At this point I will go anywhere where I can party relatively safely and have a good dance

I partied once in 2020 I got to make up for it in 2021 if I can

I'm curious to see zamna's covid protocol - they said they'll announce it soon.

Tenerife want your tourism mate. They have already weighed up the risk versus the benefits and made the decision to allow tourists in. If you were trying to get there through an unofficial channel, than that might be immoral. But since you'll be travelling on scheduled flights, with the correct documentation via customs, there isn't a case to answer

Agreed with this - it's a bit simplistic, but break it down finer and would you still go to a nearby town for a meal or for a visit?

If anything, you're 'safer' travelling overseas knowing you'll have passed a test to get there than you are staying domestically and going about your daily life.

Yeah me too. So far the parties in Tulum have been smaller beach parties with less than 500 people probably. Some wear masks, some don’t.

Something like Zamna is usually much bigger. I can’t see any crazy protocols though because....it’s Mexico after all, but we’ll see. Don’t think it will be anything like last year with thousands of people either.

I’ll probably hold off, seems like the end is near with all this vaccine news anyway.

You would never find the missus and I in a shop together, it’s the saddest most unproductive use of resources I can think of.
Mrs told me we needed to go shopping on Sunday, I reminder her we shouldn't go together and I'll only f*** it and miss things that aren't actually called whatever she has put on the list.

Lad and me went out kicking leaves and deer spotting

not sure if 'the end is near', but them vaccines should definitely mean a vast improvement of the situation.

re zamna, we'll see, AFAIK they're the only bigger venue planning some stuff and the local government did say no big fiestas so I'm genuinely curious as to what their detail plans are

Spoke to a relative in Ibiza yesterday who said a lot of people were heading to Mexico from their circles

that's a fact.

just to point out though - it's nothing new. for the past 5 or so years you always had a decent group of ibiza residents that went to tulum for dec/jan, either to work at the events, to play as a DJ or to continue partying after the summer. this year people simply went earlier than usual

Yeah, question is then, if lock down is lifted and my footy is back on, do I play on the 5th/12th/19th December if it could lead to a pre-trip test failure. I not particularly worried about the virus itself, I'm in reasonable shape for 46, but 2 excited kids with their heart set on their jollies could end up beside themselves. My autistic boy tends to have extreme reactions to changes of plans he's excited about - a high temperature reading getting us turned back at the airport could spark a day-long meltdown

Yeah, wouldn't be booking for a bit and still working on an injury, will see in a bit

Thanks for the sounding board my Spotlight chums:cool:
I had the same issue before my family trip last month. Took all the precautions possible as I didn't want to chance having to cancel due to something stupid I did. Good luck with your holiday, hope it works out the best for you all.

I reckon theres absolutely no chance youre getting it playing 11-a side outdoors footy. Unless theres a covid +ve Carragher-esque marker with arms all over you at every opportunity.

We run 7 sides and our league has scheduled fixtures for the 3 (pre-Xmas) Saturdays in December pending updates from the FA/Government
