That's a bit shit. You'd hope they'd have to have a few tests on return to check. But with uk test and trace you'd be lucky to get the results before xmas ?

It doesn't help when a private school buys a full Covid testing setup to enable them to test boarding kids coming in from abroad and teachers exposed to them, and PHE having told them it would be fine turns round and says they won't issue a permit to use it. This is the sort of thing which really winds me up ! What are they waiting for ? Some sort of backhander to the NHS ????? Can't provide services to keep people safe and then interfere in you helping yourself. Typical British attitude !!!

I cannot believe how bent the UK is.

Person in question went away to have teeth done and works in the office!

Then they broke the rules. As someone else has posted, there isn't a blanket exemption for BBC workers, it literally took 2 minutes to fact check that and you'd have saved yourself the high blood pressure :)

According to the papers there's been a mad rush in the UK to get away; good luck to them. On return the majority will have to quarantine, which is no great loss as they'd be stuck indoors anyway! So an accidental boost to the airlines and hotels abroad.

I see Hannah Wants has decided to use her Spanish green card to get over to Ibiza for the winter! Good on these people, I was due away next week so but gutted to have not made it

Seems it only applies to technicians doing urgent work:

Now why the National Lottery is considered essential, is a good question.

In fairness the Lottery funds a lot of Arts, Sports and Community Groups (whether that should be funded by Government is of course up for debate) and disrupting that income would add to the problems right now. I'd also imagine Lottery doesn't need a lot of staff physically there, draws are done with minimal staff and results are virtual as far as I know.

See david icke is been posted on insta a bit now about covid not really been a serious illness etc.

f***ing sick of such people. Should make them do a few shifts in ITU at liverpool's hospitals.

For those who wonder who this bell end is: (he's good at sounds plausible to start with and then hooks people in?‍♂️)

As Icke is king of the tin foil hat movement and conspiracy theorist extraordinaire, I actually think him taking this position is helpful to the cause of promoting a responsible approach as everyone knows he is a f***ing lunatic. Goalkeepers....

Looks like the uk stats site has completely broke. Been updating for ages. My guess is they restoring db from backup and trying again. Fills me with confidence ?

sweden update

interesting they point out NOT to isolate the elderly btw
Well the headline gives the wrong impression tbh. It says that Sweden is finally enforcing harsher restrictions...but the article points out it's mostly local rules and not even that harsh. Actually some restrictions gets eased. It's still very much more acceptable then in most EU countries and Swedens approach makes a lot of sense to me in terms of humanity, quality of life and not acting out of fear.

Some bits and pieces from the article:
  • The new guidelines, which include the capital city Stockholm, represent a change in approach, but it's still less strict than many European countries and it has also eased some of its earlier rules.
  • "For us, the psychological benefit of living without COVID fear outlives any health risk we might have from the virus," she said.
She said that the decision to introduce new guidelines for individual regions " is a sensible approach as long as the individual authorities are acting sensibly and not making panic-driven and political decisions."
  • Even as many countries go into full, nationwide lockdowns, Sweden has lifted some of its restrictions said that elderly people no longer need to isolate themselves — noting that isolation could itself harm their healthIt has also eased the limits on how many people can attend larger events.
  • Lena Hallengren, Sweden's health minister, said: "Daily life cannot be as it was before the pandemic. But there are many ways of living that are not just surviving."

Thing that gets me is the people who repost/share the garbage ain't usually that gullible.

Perhaps it's a case of "I'm sick of all this shit so gonna blame some crackpot conspiracy theory instead" ?‍♂️

I'm also sick of it all too, but I can tell the difference between my flights of fantasy in my imagination, and reality.?
