To be fair, the south (except London) is largely still very low rate. I’m convinced there is bit of a North / South thing going on. Given some places in the midlands / North have been in lockdown since August I think they are trying to stop potential disorder by making sure ‘we are all in this together’

Was a SAGe scientist on BBC news today. He said they are seeing x4 number of 18 - 40 year old women been admitted with serious disease. They think it might be because retail is open this time and that demographic is thus more exposed to the virus.

Yeah they can't stay out of the shops and even worse they way they behave when they're there - like every day's the January sales at Harrods  Funnily enough I swung into Morrisons to restock a load of essentials after having a family member down for the week for half term cleaned out our contingency supplies. After what I saw going on in there today I actually came out muttering "they need to be locked down and sent back into one-way systems round the supermarket"... people have very short memories and a seeming inability to join the dots that it's they themselves that are the real problem here !

total carnage on the streets here the last few days. Rioters are a strange mix of football hoolies, far right, anarchists, dog on string okupa crew and bored kids. people letting off steam but just making things worse...
