Im not clued up enough to know how quickly and efficiently its menna work but a mates grandparent had the vaccine (first injection) last week and has now tested positive

Probably caught it just before or just after. So unlucky

Also worth noting the main benefit of the vaccine is that it prevents severe disease. Fingers crossed the jab gives them some sort of better chance.

Happy to hear from my neighbour that her mother gets her 2nd jab tomorrow morning. Glad it is trickling through.

Told her she has to be back by 10am, as I've put her address down for the delivery of my new hiking jacket ??

The nurse on News at 10 was particularly hard to watch, saying she had to choose who to help, people begging for assistance, and that it wasn't just old people...people the same age as her (probably about 30).

Now I am waking up to reports of the lockdown being in place until 31st March. Grim start to 2021....

31st March is the date that's getting thrown around now for the UK's lockdown, I really wish they would stop doing that. just simply tell people what they must do / mustn't do and until we show signs restrictions can relax and things are improving this is how it is.. its like they set them selves up to fail every time

I think people will be ok with restrictions until March, if things can return to some sort of normality in April. But if they bugger up the vaccine roll-out there will be no hiding place....

Sisters pal is in the Army and her whole squad have been given 3 weeks paid leave starting Monday because “there’s nothing for them to do”

Apparently the pharmacies have offered to help like they do with the flu jabs, met with a wall of silence. If that is true it is a joke. You have all these trained pharmacists in Boots or wherever, offering to help but instead they are making ex GP's and volunteers answer questions on racial understanding and health and safety....

It was a shortage of the little glass vials that the vaccine goes in last I read

I think its 15th of feb to have just over 13m vaccinated, thus needing around 2m a week (just about 6 weeks away).

If they can't get supply up and approved batches through faster, I'm not sure they can make it.
Tony Blair was saying 6m a week should be possible by end of March ?‍

To be fair every country in the world wants to them, but that is another example of the government being too slow. Like the PPE. We should have had a load in place 'just in case' a vaccine was approved....

The original target was by mid Feb, however, the fact the legislation that was passed for the lockdown expires on 31.03.21 tells you all you need to know.
