Apparently 500,000 people will have had the vaccination in the U.K. by end of this weekend. In the times we live in, when everything is a failure of the state, I kind of think that number isn’t that bad?
Not sure if this is the case (if this source is to be believed!)

Not a good time for anyone planning eu travel, looks like most may be about to ban UK visitors due to covid new strain, concerns Spain may be next.

I find it hard to believe we are the only nation with a mutated strain. We are often too open and honest with our numbers. Turkey for example conviniently had low Covid rates when they wanted the summer holiday trade then when the season was over reported more real numbers.

But in general I do think travel should be for serious reasons only right now.

If I had to guess, I'd say the lackeys brought in to do the shepherding are still finding their feet. Hopefully that improves with experience

Just imagine if it ran as well as the temp Royal Mail . Courier staff delivering festive parcels or the temp Supermarket pickers fulfilling orders ...

For those interested, the new uk mutation is called N501Y. First article says probably originated in uk and also says there has been around 4,000 mutations already in the protein spike so far!

A more virulent strain appearing in the UK resulting on all nearby countries closing off borders to us - 2 weeks before a potential no deal Brexit.

Vote for a clown, get a circus.

Amazing how nobody is talking about the sad massive increase of deaths in Germany over the past few weeks. Wonder why that is? Suppose it doesn’t fit the narrative? [700+ a few days ago sadly. But not even registered by most media outlets].

here in spain it definitely was portraited in the media.

Interesting. Never in the U.K. as Merkel is held up as perfect for her COVID response (and to be fair she does seem a good leader on the whole). The worry I suppose is it’s all this new strain!

here the view is sort of a surprise as germany had it under control for most of the year and suddenly...boom

Same in Switzerland.

Don't know the exact numbers - but kind of implied in that other European countries have been much quicker to take decisive action over Xmas than the UK has. The UK has wobbled all over the place.

There is not much to talk about it. It's the price we pay for the ill-advised attempt to keep schools open no matter the cost (and wasting almost a month after it became clear our mini-lockdown wasn't good enough).

I am not that happy about our government performance here. Now our brilliant German health minister devised three priority groups to receive the covid vaccine first. The first group is medical staff and people over 80, no questions here. But the second group includes... asylum seekers and homeless people living in shelters

People over 60, chronically ill, teachers and cops are only in the third group and will have to wait until all bloody asylum seekers (mostly young healthy men) have received the vaccine - WTF???

I can see a big uprising brewing if they go ahead with that. It's the sort of policy which can be the death knell for a Government and pave the way for domestic extremists to capitalize. It's not looking good on many fronts right now and I am beginning to worry that 2020 will turn out to have been a blessing compared to 2021. Sorry to be so negative but all the necessary factors for social meltdown are beginning to converge ...
