Hi all!

Well, I`ve been thinking about coming to Ibiza for years... possibly even venturing out on my own in the first two weeks of September.

Aside from this forum, I`m having a really hard time finding good reports about Ibiza.. how now it is just soo overpriced and overhyped that its not worth it at all.. full of 17 year old kids wondering around like zombies or puking off their hotel balconies..

I`ve been wanting to go to Ibiza for about 10 years.. obviously its changed since then.
i keep thinking in my heart that what I`m dreaming about DOES exist!! and by hearing people`s comments on this forum .. it must!!!...but can`t find anyone (in real life!) who can convince me its anything other than 16-and-me-of-my-closest-friends-on-a-drunken-orgy-bender.. and the clubbing isn`t worth it anymore..

i want to go for the clubs..Space, , We love space, DC10 sounding the most appealing, at the beginning of September.(space closing party too) AND most likely this 27-year old Canadian girl will be on her own....

I know obviously people on this forum will say only positive things about it.. has anything in Ibiza gotten worse? I am expecting one of the best parties of my life!!.. and I don`t want to be dissapointed!!!

I just came back from Ibiza 2 weeks ago, my 3rd time and still love it!
I'm 29, and still plan on going again next year and many to come.

Do Not listen to what you hear.
The best way to find out is to experience and see it with your own eyes.

Ibiza is that and more!!!

I'm going for the first time on Friday for a week, told it is fantastic by friends, will let you know when I return.
:spank:

Well show me those reports, I am very curious, I think they are only on British television or in this even worse British newspapers.

If you go to Ibiza, forget the past and what everybody told you. 8)
The island is there and open. You can explore it in all kind of ways, and of course it is very expensive in the high season. It is only during one month nowadays, the rest of the summer is empty, like at home, where the euro stucks business also. But this emptyness may lead you to the supermarket, buy some bottles of water :!: ,liqours :!: , nice foods :!: and other necessereties and off you go :D . Make your own party without interference! Rent a bike or a car, buy a decent map.
Bring your own music. Thats saving ýou money! Use your freedom!

Ibiza is not invented by the British tourist industry!!!!

I had the same concerns as you when i went for the first time last year. I was 30, so i certainly wasn't looking for a pre-pubescent, drinking experience.

I came all the way from Australia, and had seen the TV documentaries and heard all the anecdotal stories, but in all honesty, i didn't see any of the drunken puking and loutish behaviour that people seem to go on about. If you make a documentary and focus on one tiny aspect of the island and show nothing else but that, of course people will get a slanted view.

The funny thing is, it's mainly the people who have never been that come up with those bullshit stories and perceptions. All the people that i asked prior to going who had been to Ibiza were full of praise for the island.

I went to San An, Ibiza town, Playa d' en bossa.......and never experienced any loutish behaviour. I don't doubt that it exists in some pockets of the island, but all the bullshit you hear is so far exaggerated it's not worth listening to.

I came away having spent 10 magical days of sight-seeing and clubbing and i had reasonably high expectations and Ibiza surpassed all of my expectations. So much so that i'll be going again this year.

If you enjoy beautiful scenery, awesome clubbing, and a vibe and atmosphere like no other, put all the nonsense behind you and discover the magic for yourself.

I first went to Ibiza in 1996 and I have been back every year since, it's changed but not for the worse, in fact I would say it's lost a lot of it's Ibiza Uncovered tag in the last couple of years. There is much more choice clubbing wise these days, new nights, new clubs etc. Unless something drastically changes on the island I'll be going for many more years :D

I am convinced... now i just have to book... and figure out where the best place to stay is..san antonio Playa den bossa

maybe sept 1 - 10th..

have any of you gone on your own? I guess I am a bit apprehensive about having as good a time on my own.. finding that great magical once in a lifetime mad experience on my own..... traveling yes, but a 10 day holiday on my own? esp as I am there to go out and go clubbing...

you better start booking hotel/accommodation pretty soon, checked the hotels availability and ended up in this poor hostel, as nothing was available anymore in august!

u do, you´re going in the most popular season of all, or month......well it wash ard for me to find something, but my frind and I will have a twin bed room in the middle of san an, near the egg - for only 160 euros for both of us for 4 nites, pretty good price

Ibiza is what you make it. If you enjoy clubbing then it will simply blow your head off.I first went 6 years ago, I was 18 and it totally changed my life.It might sound a bit cheesy but it really does have that effect on you. Going with mates is best, theres about 10 in our group and we're more like family now because of days spent getting wasted over there.Couldn't go last year due to finances but this year is looking mighty fine.
Roll on Manumission 2004!!

canadian huh?

Sept 9-27 this year will be our second time in ibiza. We went 2 years ago and LOVVVED IT!!!! We are from Toronto, Canada.

The centre of San Antonio is boozey, but there are so many places you can go that it makes no difference really.

one piece of advice. Do not go for a package with a travel agent from here. The price is astronomical. Rather book with a British travel agent (there are hundreds). Just fly to London and go from there. MUCH CHEAPER!!!

huxley .. I too will be coming from Canada.. (Edmonton)
did you book a package deal online through a UK agency..
wonder if it would be cheaper if I book a hotel with the spotlight site online and then just book an easyjet flight or something. I have enough airmiles to get to England

There's one street in the west end of San Antonio that gets full of the young 'n' boozy English (I say English as the majority seemed to be, I am by no means implying it's just the English) tourists, the rest is fab...

I did a night clubbing on my own (mate I went with was too ill go out, but not too ill to leave behind!). A quick "Hola" to some Scottish girls on the walk from San Antonio Bay into San Antonio had them join up with me, and we just kept joining up with other people and all going around together finishing in Eden (on an excellent Judgement Sunday). Everybody's so friendly that it's nothing to worry about- and if you have the confidence to come on your own in the first place then you will be fine.

I am also going late August/Early September- so you could see us around ;)

I second the sentiments posted above by others- it is quality

i went on my own last year, and had a great time. I talked to myself alot, but still had a great time, lol.

I will be going alone again this year and will be there from 1-11 September. Happy to meet up with you and party together :)

vinylgroover.. so you really went on your own and had a good time?

I will be there around the same dates as you.. don`t know how much fun wandering around and talking to myself will be. :D

have you managed to find any cheapish single accomodation? most of the stuff I`ve looked at seems to be a good deal.. if you`re traveling with at least a few friends!

hopefully I`ll pull of this being-alone-is-OK-and I`ll still have fun feeling!

yeah for sure i did.

It would have been even better if i had a travelling companion, but it didn't stop me from having heaps of fun. As far as Ibiza is concerned, going alone can work in your favour. Nothing worse than having to 'argue' with your friends about what night to go to, what time to get up, what time to go out, what sites to see etc...........you can do whatever you want, whenever you want.

The only downside to travelling alone is the cost of accommodation. I will probably stay at the Fiesta playa d'en bossa again as i did last year. It's quite reasonably priced for what you get.

Keep in touch and we can meet up on the island. I can even give you some tips on what to see and where to go given it's your first time.
