Anychance of a mix from yourself to see how UNDERGROUD and Perfect you really are.. ;)

I didnt say I was perfect - I just expect more from people in certain positions.

And yes, If you want a mix I can get you one done this week.

"expect more"?
Surely it's a matter if personal choice and taste?
Just because you don't happen to like something, does that mean no-one else should?!

No wonder clubbing is on its arse, with attitudes like that !

Attitudes like that ??? You really think it is wrong to expect a multi-millionaire DJ to not have clashing mixes a lot of the time ???

Look I will leave you all to it. But please if you get time have a look at that website in my other post.

Thanks.

i reserve my judgement on ur mix. Maybe you could do it live because i'd hate to think you would edit it; 'like pete did' :)

And for reference, a lot of your top10's have some outta date tunes on them if i wanted to be niggly. I would of 'expected more' coming from u.

I dont know about u Dam0 but my top ten's aren't a latest records top ten.

They are an accurate reflection of what I think are my ten best records that I am playing at that time.

Hence , if I have a mediocre new record it probably wont make it into the chart before a six month old record which I love and play a lot.

Depends how much you dj.
If you are on mailing lists and submit your charts to places like the Buzz Chart, DJ Mag etc, it will ALL be upfront stuff as that is what you have a responsibility to push and promote.

But, going back to your original argument, no-one denies Pete can't mix, but he hardly plays cheese and is in fact more up front than almost any dj you could ever name, often because he is the first person on the planet to receive a copy of a certain record !
You can't get anymore up front than that !
And for this, he deserves huge respect.

Look compared to people like Brett Johnson - he plays cheese.

In your opinion.

And that's what it ultimately comes down to !

We don't all have to like the same music, and I certainly wouldn't criticise someone for their choice, just because I didn't happen to agree with it.

LMFAO!

guys... We all play what we feel to be music that we connect to on a personal level... Stuff i play u would prob hate, but may be loved by others!

i play whatever i can get me mitts on, new and old... if a tune is so good, i'd still play it in 20yrs time!

:D

can we all be fwends again?

Look mate you arent gonna convince me that it is just my opinion. Go on underground house a post an essential selection top ten or whatever it is he does and see what response you get from a lot of the producers themselves !!!

So because a group of people on another message board don't like him either then none of us are right to like him??!!!

You need one of these mate....

Music and clubbing is about choice and preference. You're lambasting people because they do not agree with yours.

hear hear!

what i hate when i got out on a night and people stand moaning that musics shite! - why are they there? mostly this happens when the "bigger - well known names" are playing... serves them right for their own ignorance!

Ahh sorry i guess i'm just too underground, oh well.

Just kiddin really, to be honest I've got no objections with your feelings towards pete tong and the music you're describing but it was more the delivery of those feelings that annoyed me and by the looks of things a fair few others.

Dont forget, the essential selection isnt necessarily whats in pete's record box at the moment... R1 bosses have a good sit down with the dj's and decide what they want on their primetime shows.

It's always the people into mellow underground house that really get on their high-horse I've noticed, even worse than prog fans!

I just hate that phrase 'underground house', its like its trying to be better than everything else and is just a genre that wants to be 'cool'!! The term underground just reminds me of chavs and the worst side of garage and dnb.

i used 2b a prog fan...
hehehehe.....

seriously though.....

the term "underground" shits me to tears!!! i mean how "underground" is any genre? if a track you play (or any other DJ plays 4 that matter) is a corker.... then whether it's an "underground-cutting-edge-newbie-record that-no-one's-got-yet".... it will EVENTUALLY (somewhere down the track) be a "crowd pleaser" in whateva specific genre you wanna comment about....

did that make ANY sense whatsoever? :?

& on the pete tong tip...
IMHO he's earned his way 2b where he is & whether his music is my cup of tea or not... he deserves some respect....

In all fairness, 'underground house' really aint that underground anymore. It (or the more accessible stuff anyway) is fastly becoming the music of choice now, because someone decided Derrick Carter was cool at the time. Hence the abundance of nights, labels and DJs popping up claiming to have something to do with 'Chicago House...' or whatever.

It's all bollocks to be fair, it's all House music. I see where Comin At Ya's comin from here, as I think we like the same kinda stuff, but hey, it'd be a sad world if we all liked the same thing.

Who are we saying is cheesy btw? (Sorry, couldn't be bothered to read the whole thread)

Comin At Ya seemed to be implying that certainly Pete Tong is cheesy, but has made disparaging remarks to people who like trance, and sublimal/defected kind of house
