Coffee shops in Netherlands

A friend in Amsterdam e-mailed me and told me that coffeeshops in the Netherlands are facing shutdowns because by January 1, 2005, the coffeeshops must provide a smoke-free environment for their employees.

Selling would still be possible, but smoking not.The shops are convinced that they would lose too much money this way.

Someone knows something about this ?

Is the Netherlands turning into teh US ?

I did a little more research and found some info that dutch coffeeshops wouldn't let in foreigners anymore 8O
That can't be possible :?

My mates are just back and had no problems. All you would have to do is speak in a Dutch accent anyway.Just go in and ask for a Shmoke and a shandwich.
