Anybody heard this dj before? Me and 3 friends went to cocoon last monday after a brilliant Circo Loco session @ Dc10, got there about 2am mainly to see Marco Carola on the terrace. We walked in to find literally a constant beat playing with no melody or bass or anything, and a really really flat atmosphere. Went to get a drink at the bar for 10 mins or so before making away towards the dancefloor, and find it hard to describe what was happening.
The room was busyish but not packed, but there wasnt one person dancing, the music was EXACTLY the same for the next half hour, being played in a loop of about 10 mins where the cd would skip, then go back to the intro beats, then a horrible loud noise would come on for 20 secs and lead into an 70s style disco track, the dj would then jump around very over enthusiastically and make massively over exaggerated movements to the decks (constantly spinning the record back, throwing hands in the air every 20 secs etc). Then there would be a completely mistimed loop of some sort which lead to the record skipping and this whole exact same thing happening again.
This went on for about 10-15 mins or so, all while this time 99% of the crowd were booing, hissing etc. We went for a walk to check out the main room which wasnt really happening either, and then decided to go back into the terrace to see what was happening, where Kyle Hall was just finishing to a still booing crowd who were just standing there angry and confused. Marco Carola then came on and looked shell shocked. He finally put a techno record on but the last hour had put us in a bit of a downer, specially after such a good and long dc10 session, so we just cut our losses and left after the strangest and worst musically hour in a club ever.
Anyone have any idea what was happening?? I thought it was some kind of wind up as i thought there could be no way a club and promotion of this size could let this happen for this long?? Four of us paid 50euro to get in, plus cab there and back plus drinks (including 22 euros for 2 fizzy oranges, no vodka included), for such a shockingly poor event.
I know this post might sound a bit much but it confused us all loads and am jus wondering if anyone else was there on that night that heard/saw it all that could offer any sort of explanation ?
