Clubbing in NYC

I've scoured the net and the only sort of places I can find that may be ok are Pacha and Webster Hall.

Roger Sanchez @ Cielo seems to be the best bet for that week. Shouldn't be a problem to get in if the guy-girl ratio is 1:1, you're glammed up, and arrive early.

Webster Hall is a dump.

Pacha NYC isn't worth the $30 either. Contrary to some other posts, so long as you have the cover charge, are not entirely fukced up, etc... you'll probably get in, though there can be a line after 12. Very rarely, depending on the DJ can it be a moderately decent night. The layout of the main dance floor is awkward, actually that goes for the whole club, most people dress down, and the sound quality is not that good.

You're probably better off with some of the underground clubs mentioned above by others, though maybe just skip it all together and have more time to explore the city itself...

There are those who like New York nightlife, though compared to many places in Europe I've been to, it just doesn't compare, at least not the last few years...

since many of the raids last june places like cielo have become horrendous for getting entry. searches taking forever, going through every item in your wallet or handbag, aggro bouncers, queues forever and then when you get in....nobody inside.

the whole RAVE act thing has got the clubs scared and to that end, they aren't willing to take any chances on people getting 'caught' inside.

see my guide, it did last year and was taken over by greenhouse (an environmentally friendly club:confused:). only just opened recently.

i think timmy regisford will be doing shelter nights at that club, rather than the club just being called The Shelter.

nice job on the guide grego;). rumour has it shelter will be reopening next month, you may be in luck. check the websites vita nyc listed closer to the date you are planning to be here- lots of good parties are not announced until last-minute

I was in both Cielo and Pacha as recently as November 08. The searches were thorough, though they weren't more than a slight inconvenience. Pacha was overcrowded and Cielo was decently packed. Queues can take an hour or more after 12, depending on the DJ, so if you go, get there early.
As I go for the music and don't do drugs, the searches are not a problem for me, though the queue to get searched can take 15 minutes or more.
