Clubbing atmosphere to change??

I'm not sure if this has been raised on another post but I thought I would bring up something that's been bothering me. From recent clubbing experiences in the UK I believe the atmosphere in Ibiza's clubs could change this season and not for the better. It's no secret that the underground sounds of deep house and techno are well and truly out there now with acts like Jamie Jones and Julio Bashmore making their way through the charts. It just seems to me that these types of nights are attracting more and more people who we would usually expect to see passed out at in a pile of their own spew with a kebab at the bottom of the west end…you all know the sort ;)
I fear that my favourite club DC10 will see the biggest change and will take away the unique underground feeling of everyone in the club not having a care in the world and this will be replaced with people shuffling, lads going over the top when sleazing girls and probably ending up fighting. I can handle it in Pacha because…it's Pacha but when it starts to move to the clubs that are famous for having an underground friendly atmosphere it will really wind me up.
This will be the first time in 5 years I am not attending the white isle, I am of course gutted but I am also in a way glad that I will not have to witness this happening. I don't know if I'm maybe over reacting or if anyone else shares the same concerns? What are your thoughts on this?
 
I hear you! But what was underground may not stay that way, it's all about findin the next new and fresh venue or night. Diynamic nights at sankeys will be a magnet for the said crowd you mentioned this season I think, was majority of workers attending last season, this year the crowd will follow I think. Looking forward to findin the next 'underground' event....I hate that word!
 
Im so bored of this topic... why cant we all just get along and party together.... didnt clubbing used to be about uniting everyone from different races, beliefs and backgrounds?
so long as everyone is having a good time.... let them get on with it.
Im pretty sure I had the same rant too at some point. but its a pointless rant, as we cant control it.
if people like going to dc10... let them... if people like going to FMIF... let them... if people prefer matinee... let them.
Its all about free choice,and I dont think anyone should judge anyone else.
And dont let it spoil your ibiza experience... thats just a waste.

The point being clubbing has always been about different races, backgrounds, sexuality, beliefs etc but one love - the music. People that jump on bandwagons have less passion about the music which is reflected in their ability to bounce from one genre to the next. Without the passion and love for the music they bring along with them variables which aren't meant to be a factor of the clubbing scene such as attitude and aggro. DC10 has been subject to this problem for a while and more so since people from 'The only way is Essex' have been photographed there. And as for you saying don't let it spoil your Ibiza experience, well it's difficult to ignore when people are throwing drinks over you in an aggressive manner or threatening to kick off because you've trodden on their Vans. I'm afraid I'm not going to apologise for judging people like this in a negative way.

P.s. those who are true fans of Guetta earn more respect than those who are 'currently' into 'deep house' and by the way what I have said does not extend to people who like all kinds of music just those who are fickle and only like whatever is currently trendy, following the crowd like sheep

I completely agree with that, but like Jojo points out these people are not going to nights because they enjoy the certain type of music that is played but just because it is trendy. 2 years back I doubt this type of crowd had even heard of deep house.

For the record I like most genere's of dance music I could go to a house night with a DJ like Roger Sanchez and have a good night the same as if I went to a techno night with a DJ like Loco Dice. What my point was is the atmosphere at these events are changing because of the type of people it is attracting(people that would in recent years be happy with a few shots and a punch up on the west end). Again I couldn't agree more with Jojo who rightly says 'it's difficult to ignore when people are throwing drinks over you in an aggressive manner or threatening to kick off because you've trodden on their Vans'.

Hopefully it wont spoil the Ibiza clubbing experience for to many people this summer, all I know is it has already spoilt more than a couple of my UK clubbing experiences in recent months and it doesn't seem to be getting better any time soon
 
And I agree with the VIP thing spoiling it also. I can't think of anything worse than sitting down with a bottle of champagne to my favourite music. Rich people should be allowed to party of course, but inside the club, who has the most money shouldn't become a factor - everyone should be the same on the dancefloor. And everyone should appreciate that we are all there to dance and enjoy :)
All this talk about Bomba taking care of the punter making them feel comfortable - yeah we'd ALL be comfortable if the whole building was freed up for dance space. VIP areas should be for celebrities who can't enjoy their night without being mobbed and that's it.. and it should be a very small area, just big enough for their heads to fit in
 
Personally I think Ibiza's club culture changed when the licensing hours changed. Daytime clubbing and nightclubbing where 2 different animals. 10-12 years ago space and bora bora where perfect examples of the shift in clientele when the sun went down. I don't think the afore mentioned "types" are drawn to specific nights based on music genre, without causing offence the TOWIE cast wouldn't know if Donald Duck was spinning the wheels so I just think they are out for a spot of nightclubbing. Me and the missus where the only ones on the terrace at DC10 last September gone 7pm, may have been a one off but still didn't feel right. Besides Ibiza has so much more to offer than clubbing and maybe your changing yourself and you just don't realise it, either way less clubbing is a good excuse to get out there and experience the best parts of the island after all you can "nightclub" anywhere.. ;)
 
It's always that way when you're growing up or getting older. I mean, when I first went out nobody was filming the DJ or updating their facebook/twitter status. People dressed the way they wanted too without giving a f*ck what other people would think of them. That's life u know, people change, but so do places/clubs. Ibiza isn't the same place as 10 years ago and it will not be the same place 10 years from now. But I know what you mean, I went to Sankeys last year and in contrast to other places I didn't feel really comfy there. I still had a great time though, because it all just depends on your attitude, if u stop bothering about such things you can always have a good party... (btw; does someone know why it isn't possible to start new lines in posts so you don't get whole chunks text???)

You're missing the point. No one is judging people for going to certain nights or clubs, why should we? The main problem is the bell ends that go to clubs just to be seen, the fake VIP bull**** and the sheep that move from genre to genre each year (whatever is popular)

I reckon people are getting too polarised and pretentious these days which is whats causing the problem. Your either considered a chunk blowing champagne swigging chav or a too cool for school muso.

When acid house took off the big attraction was that it was for everyone. No exclusions or judgements. Beer boys were welcome, posh folk, anyone.

If people are misbehaving in clubs and ruining peoples night then its up to the door staff to take care of this. If its just the fact you dont like someones style, personality or choice of clothes/drinks then you need to get over it and just enjoy yourseld.

No-one has said anything about disliking peoples style etc. I dislike people who come onto a dancefloor of people dancing their a55es off and standing around looking pretty the second you bump into them they give attitude. There are people like that out there not everyone is all happy go lucky, love everyone, love the music FACT

And might I add if we are talking acid house it was people who weren't there for the music that were partially to blame for the fate of the Hacienda if I'm correct? Where's the fun in that :)
