So finally booked Barcelona for first wkd in Feb, staying in the Gothic Quarter. Land about half 9 Friday night and fly back at 2pm on the Monday. Started doing some research but happy to hear your suggestions on stuff to do, good bars and places to eat. Cheers

Check out the Fastnet Irish bar. Me and missus had a quality 3 days in BCN a year or so ago. Nou camp worth a visit if missus isn't totally against football.

This place great for tapas…all very reasonable as well. La boqeria in the market just off rambles also great for lunch but you'll have to go early or late to beat crowds. Can be a little intimidating when crowded but don't be afraid to just dive in and get your order in…polite queuing doesn't really apply here!

This place also cool for a cocktail..old fashioned speak easy style place. Also there are some really cool rooftop bars in hotels but you may not get the weather…Barcelo Raval worth a look….panoramic views of everything but not sure if they are open in winter.

Also bilbao. Great place. Mates just back from San Sebastian and loved it. Same with both places, pinchos culture - stacks of creative tapas at the bar (every bar) help yourself and pay at the end - mega!
Great shout.

The Basque Country is so nice for bar culture and Pinxtos.

Both Bilbao and San Sebastián/Donostia lovely places with the latter prettier and Bilbao more industrial but with lovely areas like sopelana, plentzia or the old town ( casca viego )

Just booked next trip in March to go back to Bilbao
