So far 8 horses have died at the Cheltenham Races. Am I the only one who thinks this horrible, barbaric event should be banned?! These beautiful animals are dying horrible, painful deaths because of this "sport". Once a racehorse's leg is broken 99 times out of 100 they will never be able to walk again, so they are shot  Why why why are these races with jumps still allowed to go ahead. Makes me so angry :x :x :x

Animal rights groups are urging everyone to boycott these races. The death of 8 horses in one race meet is just disgusting :x

That's not true, mny brother owns a stable.

They are only shot if the Horse is in considerrable pain, as judged by on-site vets and trained staff.

Killing a horse is the last thing a Horse lover wants to do - A dead horse produces no stud fees!

Horse racing , infact any kind of racing that involves animals is cruel imo. And the pathetic losers that bet on them are deluded.

And how much have you lost?? :spank:

Im sorry, but along with smoking and Heroin, gambling gives me the heebegeebees :? im strange like that.

just teasing........i don't gamble on horses (on very very rarely) as they are too unpredictable.

but i do gamble on football and some other sports. i never lose, i don't gamble in the traditional sense, its winning tiny tiny amounts in large quantity that gives me a profit.;)

agree though that it is a dirrrrrrrrrrrty addictive horrible habit and if i behaved like your average gambler then i'd rather die.:x

which part of what i said are you so angry about bex??

Not specifically you Grego, I know that the reason horse racing still goes on is because of money. I choose not to bet on it though because like Mambs, I think its a cruel sport. It makes me even more mad when horses die through racing, it just seems like such a pointless race to me.

Cant we race certain spotlight members over ridiculously high jumps instead and take bets on them, I really wouldnt give a funk if they broke their legs!

(not you grego btw)

mainly i lay bets on betfair and usually only bet on results as gambling on score, number of goals, time of goals, scorer, etc is too unpredictable.

so rather than backing bolton to beat sunderland or man utd to beat west brom this wknd (which they'll prob do), just to minimise risk i'd lay west brom or sunderland to win so that i only lose if they do actually win.

i've got loads of rules about football betting, which all forms part of what i back. e.g. never back a team away from home (in no circumstances) - so Man utd are out this wknd. I never back a team i'm supporting (so never bet on liverpool/barcelona). I never bet on cup games cos they are too unpredictable.

80% of the bets i make are lay bets on ht/ft results. so in the above example, laying sunderland ht/ft

;)
