I thought the new version was weird. Johnny Depp was way too Michael Jackson/Anna Wintour, and that Oompa loompa was bad as enough as one person, let alone three three thousand. :x Give me the trippy early 70s version any day.

However ... now I know she's a bit young but the actress playing Violet was fit, wasn't she? Maybe in ten years she can join us in Ibiza. 8)
 
I really liked the film. Yes, it was dark... but what else to expect from Mr. Tim Burton?? I HATE remakes typically (there are certain films/stories that should never be remade, it is like traipsing on sacred territory :evil: ) but Burton always does productions so flawlessly it is impossible to not enjoy in my book.

I found Depp's stiff hairdo, Jackie O sunglasses, and essentially his "psychosis" to be most artsy and charming. Does it compare to the original? No, nothing ever will. I still enjoyed it nonetheless. 8)
