Channel four house party

watched the rest of the c4 houseparty tonight.

soul II soul & horse meat disco were easily the 2 best sets of the night...classic rare groove/soul/disco/house records.

the homage to 80's new yook voudieng that was going on when horse meat played was very surreal.:p

I thought Morillo was pretty decent, he played a few classics from few years back like Reach which I enjoyed.

Was out with one of the 'trans people' dancers from the horsemeat segment on Sun... hilarious viewing. Best TV moment of the decade. 8)

Not a bad set but hit time stretching of vocals is annoying me and it's all a bit ploddy.

Also can't bear his constant miming and posturing. Argh. Might fast forward to Soul II Soul.

Oh God he's gona all generic EDM sounding now. OFF.

horsemeat & their dancers did provide the highlights no quesion.(the horsemeat guys themselves weren't too shabby with the old dance moves either )

strangely i've never seen HMD in a club (i do have their compilation cds...)..seriously considering tagging along with my mates to WHP in October to one of the nights to catch them then.( the boys noize/kalkbrenner/tensnake night)

If you want to experience Horsemeat it has to be at the Eagle or it doesn't count.

the eagle?...i thought they played out of the horse n groom?:?:

as i say, definitely on my list of djs/events to try and get too at some point.

Horsemeat is always at the Eagle.

They play elsewhere too but this is a legendary space - like going in a time warp back to NYC in the 70s complete with voguing queens and moustached clones.

Music varies from vintage Philly/Salsoul stuff to Italo disco and the odd bit of acid. I prefer it when they have guests like James Murphy who takes it to a deeper, more psychedelic level...and every time a New York heavyweight plays in town (namely Morales, Krivit, Francois K, Kenny Dope, Derrick Carter etc) you can bet your bottom dollar they'll do a stint at the Eagle on Sun.

It's great to see a small, grass roots venue get such worldwide acclaim - but frankly, they deserve it. 8)

As far as the horsemeat boys go, it's an acquired taste (i.e. can be really girly disco) so if you're specifically looking for house or techno, definitely give them a wide berth.
