After our 5-0 destruction of Hearts on Saturday im ultra confident we'll beat Spartak Moscow on Wednesday in Celtic Park (im currenty devising plans on getting over to Glasgow for this:twisted:) obviously Spartak will pose a bigger threat than Hearts but im very confident we'll get the desired result, if Naka, Scott Brown and Donati played like they did on Saturday ill be delighted.

It'll be a shock if Arsenal don't go through with a 2-0 lead after the first leg against Sparta Prague, same as Liverpool 1-0 up against Toulouse.

Rangers are in for a torrid time in Belgrade against Red Star they have a 1-0 lead but i think they will crumble over there, obviously im hoping for a Red Star win.

Right im off soon to Glasgow (feigning ilness in work ) long journey ahead of me, too expensive to fly over so the train/ferry/train it is :cry:hopefully fly back.

gotta say that i'm hoping for a Spartak win

Spartak win = more money for Rangers
Hmm... interesting.

Seeing as I live out here, I'd prefer Spartak to win so all my Spartak-supporting friends will be happy.

But, of local teams, I prefer CSKA, who are Spartak's sworn enemy. So it's got to be Celtic.

But if it'll make Jonny cry then I suppose I'll stick with Spartak over Celtic :D

Are you from Glasgow by the way?

Anyway, the glorious red machine marched on etc etc.

Didn't we look good? Options from everywhere.

Although not convinced what getting the family of that poor kid out on the pitch was all about? Mawkish obsession with grief were the words of Boris Johnson/Ron Liddle & sometimes I think they had a point..

I would always support the British team, so him supporting a Scotish club should translate to supporting other rival Scottish clubs in Europe. It's supporting a nation more than anything. Despite my dislike for Celtic I would back them to the hills tonight, even though I like Russian teams alot.

Tuned in to Celtic-Spartak for extra time. Not a lot between these teams when you consider Spartak is playing with 10 men... kept Celtic in their half for the first 15m, good chances for both sides in the second 15 though Celtic had more of the ball and more shots on goal (and a horrible missed penalty )

All down to penalties now... wonder how Jonny's doing up there in Glasgow

...and it came down to the last penalty, which fell to Spartak, and the Celtic keeper saved. A lot of broken hearts around Moscow tonight, I'm sure. Looks like Spartak played quite well but Celtic pulled it out in the end.

Champions League roundup

Arsenal, Valencia, Bremen, Celtic, Benfica in; Ajax out

everyone held form. Ajax out so soon was a surprise.

I was at the Arsenal game (more for free beer and the company I was in that the game tbh) and it was ridiculously easy for them. Looked like they were playing a practice game.

Jonny is only back absolutely shattered with no fingernails left and skint:cry:,i cant be dealing with these penalty shootouts anymore 8Obut what a game, exhilirating stuff, all credit to Spartak unlike other teams who come to Celtic Park in the CL and crumble under the atmosphere they came and took the game to us,although we were the better team overall, the referee was a shambles who gave some bizzare decisions most notably the penalties,2 missed penalties8O JVH hits the bar in extra time, this game had it all, best since Man United last season, some would say even better,Boruc saved us in the end:D what a bloody night in the east end of Glasgow, not good for the old ticker at all these penalty shootouts.
