Got notified by UEFA that I won the ticket lottery. :D :D 8) 8)

Didn't get the good seats I ordered, but got seats in the next best section so I can't complain... especially since they're 140 euros/each as opposed to the 200 I would have shelled out.

I got a sneaky for Chelsea which I pray to god I am wrong.
I pray to god you're right!

Congrats, me and my mates applied, none of us were succesful, if id have won id have given the tickets to my mates if/when Man United get to the final being the good mate i am, althougfh they said they would've paid for my flight and visa into Russia, rumours have it that the Rusian Mafia have somehow managed to get a large proporation of the tickets, other rumours have it that the ballot was set in favour to Moscow citizens (not having a dig Morbyd just saying what i heard)althught the rumour regarding the Russian Mafia wouldn't suprise me in the slighest as they seem to be everywhere thesedays.

I think there is always a certain proportion of the neutrals' tickets set aside for the locals.

I know people who work closely with the Russian Football Union. I'm pretty positive they've got the situation under control and that there's no involvement by the "Mafia" (always an overblown concept in the West... especially in film. I've never seen "mafia" activity in 6.5 years, although the police are a bit dodgy!)

I'm going anyway with my mates if Man united get there, id love to go to something like that anwyay it would be an amazing experience even just to be in Moscow at that time, im not lkely to experience it with Celtic anytime soon unless we move out of that crap SPL and into the Premiership or a European Super League then i believe we could step up a gear, lot of hassle though with all this fcuking visas and invitations required, why cant they do away with this crap, it's not the Soviet Union anymore.

Ah, sorry mate.

I applied for the finals 2 years ago (I had booked my Paris flights early on sale... only for Chelsea to go out in the round of 16!) and didn't make it through. I made the mistake of using a UK address as everyone I know that applied from Russia got tix.

Eventually got lucky when a friend gave me a pair of tickets gratis. Too bad Lehman got himself sent off and ruined all the fun!

Short-term tourist visas really aren't much of a hassle at all. Just get a travel agency to handle it for you. The Russians recently substantially cut down on the paperwork for EU citizens.

Moscow will be a zoo that week... but I'm sure it'll be a hell of a lot of fun :D

Looked up the Russian Embassy in Dublin, €60 for a tourist visa:eek: suppose it has to be done though, the lads were looking at flying to Riga then an 18 hour train to Moscow:eek: thankfully ive found a better route flying there (one 3 hour stopover )and amazingly the price is cheap enough right now €310 although taking a risk booking a flight now,if we do go ill definitely be in touch Morbyd to get the lowdown as you know the place well as it would be like entering into the unknown for us,and not speakin a word of that cryptic language, etc, etc.

I've taken the overnight train from Riga. It was actually quite nice... not the worst option (although I'd think you could get a cheap Baltic Air flight for 99 Euros return)

My one-year multi-entry work visa cost 190 pounds so be happy with your measly 60 Euros!

when people say "you lucky bastard", quite often it's usually a case of the 'lucky' one having the balls to make things happen or being intelligent or assertive.

winning a final ticket through the ballot for the 2nd time in 3 years is pure luck. you won in 2006 didn't you?

is there a special website for employees? bastard.

I didn't win in '06 (see above). Got tix through a friend who's a sports-specialist travel agent.

Still, I'm feelin' lucky

That was me 8) aaah the memories

didnt apply for it this year, even if we'll be getting there :p
Saw flights for Moscow and you'd be looking at near £400, plus hotel and spending money would equate to near a £1K, which I cant really afford.

Well done Morbyd

400 pounds for tickets? I usually pay in the 200-250 range to come to London... guess all the cheap seats are taken

We never did quite meet up in Paris, did we? Irina & I ended up having pre-match beers with an Arsenal-supporting Irish friend who also flew in from Moscow. Was quite fun down at the Arsenal fans' adopted pub across the way from the stadium.

It can be done cheaper than mate trust me an extensive search on google has come up trumps although need to really book now, the only thing id be concerned about is getting ripped off over there by the cops and nothing you can do about it either and not understanding a word of that bizzare cryptic language.

how do you mean?

He's living in the 1990s.

The cops stopped stopping people for document checks years ago. And I can guarantee they'll be on their best behavior for this event.

The only time you'd have to pay off a cop is when you break the law. While corruption is a horrible thing, that option sure beats a night in a holding cell!

alhough the police are a bit dodgy!)

YOU SAID IT MAN... in fairness ive heard off a few people about the crooked police in Russia, even once case where they tried to bribe some bloke because they said his documents were not in order when they in fact were (it's bad enough you actually have to carry around these document at all times in the first place, democracy indeed:confused:)

it's commonplace in many european countries that you have to carry ID with you.
