cfc v lfc

So, you're trying to say that Cech takes his goal kicks long. Shocking! :?

And according to the newspapers last season, Liverpool were the No. 1 long-ball team in the league.

my main recollection of the 2nd half and the press i've read, is of drogba backing into agger and running him ragged.

which newspapers would that be?:?

As I remember it, Chelsea played a mixed bag in the first half to much success. Certainly not all long-ball.

The third quarter was all Liverpool.

The last quarter of the game, Chelsea did step up the long balls to Drogba.

Re: the atmosphere - no, it's not the Kop or St James', but there was plenty of singing and cheering in the stadium I was in, and a great atmosphere (though, admittedly, it wasn't quite like at the Barcelona match last autumn... that was stellar).

Everytime the (admirably well-coordinated) Liverpool support started singing, they were shouted down or out-sung.

1. already said you didn't play long ball all the first half.
2. football is played in halves, not quarters.
3. "admirably well-coordinated"

the atmosphere looked s to the h to the one to the t. couldn't believe my eyes when 5 mins after you'd scored, it was like people had fallen asleep on their seats.

whatever you say, too many corporates and not enough one man went to mow, too much posh garage and not enough shed end. i'd be gutted to be a chelsea fan, i'd love the success but not if it meant my club had to hand out 35,000 cheap flags to start an atmosphere.

btw - chelsea stewards were instructed to take all banners off liverpool fans.

That's what Tom says - although he loves the winning things for a change, he says there are so many muppets now at Stamford Bridge who've jumped on the Chelsea bandwagon in the last few years - where were they when they were saving the Bridge :spank:

On a tangent, one thing he did say tho was some of the Liverpool fans were the scummiest of the scum and were singing songs about Matthew Harding and Alan Ball dieing

that's what some of my chelsea mates say too, hence why i said it.

the alan ball thing was rubbish. i heard that one five live after the game but then all the reporters made it clear that it was the LFC fans who started the applause and the chelski fans followed. that was repeated in the mirror today.

not heard about matthew harding, you'll always get d1ckheads. same as the michael shields chanting and hillsborough and munich and whatever else at nearly every game........

I'm only repeating what Tom said that he'd heard - like you said there's always going to be a few nobs about

s'alright, i'll shoot the messenger anyway;)

thing is, it doesn't take much (like 1 misinformed press report) or in this case, a caller on a phone in and before you know it, it's around forums and messageboards and being picked up by tabloid rags.

on 5 live and talk sport over the last couple of days, the reporters have rubbished the myth. alan ball is a well respected hero on merseyside

Point taken about the English/Italian final. I too would rather not see an all English final. Dunno why though!? I'm not into all this pretty football/long ball debate. I do know that Chelsea eek out alot of 1-0 wins (which I'm not knocking) where as Man U might win 3-1 sometimes (see higher goal difference) Chelsea are now a very physical side, Terry, Lampard, Ballack, Drogba right through the spine of the team. (ballack actually looks like a machine!!?) They are also extremely clinical which sometimes is a sight to behold. Personally I've really enjoyed watching Man U this season and I think they deserve the Premiership title. Chelsea to win Champions Leagude. Man U to win FA Cup. Breathe.
