arggggggggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

getting beaten 1-0 is the nightmare result!

benfica all over again.......

chelsea played well but for about 25 mins of the 2nd half went a bit "last minute of the cup final" and were nothing but a long ball team (with a good defence). as expected a game of very few chances.

can we have eto'o, torres, messi, kaka, villa, etc, etc please.

oh yeah, chelsea must be the only club i know when "flag night" means they hand 35,000 flags for free rather than people bringing/making/wearing their own colours.

viva la revolución!

Gerrard on the right and Bellamy?!! FFS!

Bellamy is the biggest waste of space whinging tw@ and the sooner we get rid the better.

Would have liked to see Gerrard in front of Alonso & Mascherano with Penant on the right....

Zenden played surprisingly well though.

I think liverpool will take it anfield and I hope so as I think for united, if they get through!!! that it will be an easier tie especially on a neutral ground.

The arena up there will be to much for chelsea now its the last chance of any credible silverware for the scousers.

Shame about the result. Really wanted Liverpool to win. Still I've got hopes for the second leg8)

btw Grego, talking about torres, did you see this?
(sorry if its already been posted!)

Thought it was a good result for Liverpool, especially seeing as they could of gone 3 maybe 4 - 0 down. Away goal woulda been nice but easily can win at Anfield. Poor game though, was battle of who was ****ter between Zender ( awful ) and Ferreira ( £14M, my arse ). After my opinion of Drogba was moving slightly positive as well as Mourinho, I hate them both now. Wish Agger went to town on his face.

they could have been out of sight after 20 mins.

can't believe zenden has made a career at top european clubs (and the boro!;))

yeah, someone told me the other day. thought it was funny altho it'll mean it'll cost us another £5m to get him.

like with simao sabrosa.........bid provisionally accepted at £7m, says he loves liverpool (they all do tho), comes for a medical and to meet rafa.........the price becomes £15m.

It's all still on a knife edge. Happy with the result though...

Hoping we make it this year, but if Liverpool went thru no biggie. Just as long as it's not Man U or Arsenal...

Cracking goal by Cole though, he always seems to do well against Liverpool...

Rafa and Jose had me in stitches post match, think they should tour together.

it was bad enough pre-match.

jose's teasing of the big club thing and liverpool have played only 3 or 4 games in 2007 was funny to me but in football circles i think most would say that is just going too far.

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Good atmosphere in the stadium last night. Good result as well.

Actually a bit surprised to find Chelsea in the best position of all the semi-finalists 8)

Bring on the Kop!

As long as the Pool go no where near with Berbatov!!

Can see a Mano Chelski Premiership
Manu Chelski FA Cup Final
Manu Chelski Champions League Final!!

Hope I'm wrong.......

It is a mouthwatering prospect, isn't it?

3 games between Chelsea & Man U over 2 weeks that decide the fate of three trophies.
May 9 (Premiership), May 19 (FA Cup) and May 23 (Champions League)

But.... I think a Chelsea v Milan CL final would be more interesting and better for the game.

I'm afraid I disagree. Chelsea play, in my opinion, a very direct game going forward. Bang it in to Drogba who holds it up and then frees the ball up for someone to score a goal. (Joe Coles on Wed night) I'm an AFC Wimbledon fan and I'd rather watch Man U over Chelsea anyday. Man U's attitude has been "well we'll score more goals than the oppostion" they've not had many clean sheets. But look at their performances against Roma and AC which were very enjoyable spectacles and good for the game. Liverpool were pretty average against the Blues the other night.

However I think it'll be an AC Milan/Chelsea final anyway!

When I said more interesting, I meant having an English v Italian match-up instead of an all English affair.

I also disagree about Chelsea being a long ball team. Yes, they use the tactic (and more often than not, in the last 10 minutes of the game). But Chelsea also take the ball up the middle with Makalele and Ballack linking play, or on the wings when Arjen Robben or Joe Cole are at full tilt. Lampard likes to send long passes across the field up to a striker out on the wings or to an advancing full back.

john, your blind bias shocks me sometimes. apart from the first 20 mins on wed, all cech did was bang it up to drogba. everyone watching the game could see it, not least reds cos it worked a treat for you and drogba was immense.

So, you're trying to say that Cech takes his goal kicks long. Shocking! :?

And according to the newspapers last season, Liverpool were the No. 1 long-ball team in the league.

the atmosphere looked s to the h to the one to the t. couldn't believe my eyes when 5 mins after you'd scored, it was like people had fallen asleep on their seats.

whatever you say, too many corporates and not enough one man went to mow, too much posh garage and not enough shed end. i'd be gutted to be a chelsea fan, i'd love the success but not if it meant my club had to hand out 35,000 cheap flags to start an atmosphere.

btw - chelsea stewards were instructed to take all banners off liverpool fans.
