Certain parties....

I am not a "homophob", but I would like to party with some likeminded individuals.......when I travel to Ibiza in early september are there certain parties that are more gay friendly than others that I might want to avoid?

like minded being what exactly? :-/

There's plenty of meat markets in San Antonio if that's what you're looking for.

as robder says, plently of parties where you can snigger at gays and the girls won't think you a t**t for doing so. Enjoy, sounds like you're really gonna get into the spirit of ibiza whilst you're out there

maybe he's just wanting to know where the gay parties are so he can avoid them, dont see anything wrong with that......

:( This thread makes me sad.

FYI, there are no 100% straight parties in Ibiza, and no 100% gay parties in Ibiza. So just go have fun and pull your finger out. :?

Look, I'm not trying to offend anyone and I apologize if have already done so. I'm not looking for 100% of either side of the fence, I just don't want to spend $60 or $70 on a ticket into a club on a night where it's a known gay night where I will feel uncomfortable. Trust me, if I was gay I would want to know the exact opposite.....one of my friends that is coming w/ us is Bi and he is looking for some parties that are more up his alley.

I have walked into the wrong party in DC before, had a good time, but I like to dance with girls....again, not trying to offend.

Leave it out you lot, anyone that doesn't want to go to an all gay party is suddenly Hitler. Behave yourselves. I know exactly where he's coming from and I'm not homophobic at all. And whoever said, this post really annoys me or whatever - your replies really annoy me. This world has gone so backward its unbelievable. If people like you didn't make such an issue of incidents like this, racism, sexism etc. wouldn't bring the hate it does today. Also, don't come back giving me some crappy speech about how I evil I am etc. Not meaning to offend anyone but some things really get me annoyed :x.

Much Love.

Don :)

Back when I used to go clubbing in DC, the hands-down best club in town was Tracks, a gay club. Friday nights were totally mixed and you could have a great time being straight or gay. Even "boys night" on Saturday was a lot of fun.

That's what Ibiza is all about, and even at supposedly gay parties like La Troya you'll find more than enough women to dance with. When the wife and I showed up at La Troya in June, it must have been 2-1 girls in the early part of the evening! (I didn't notice how it was later on)

I think that's why you're getting such strong reactions here. There's little reason to avoid certain Ibiza parties because they're considered "gay", because there'll be tons of straight people (incl. women) as well. The only reason to avoid them is if you feel uncomfortable around gay people, and that's not so cool.

Aside from all that, haven't you ever heard the Fun Loving Criminals song?

Heres a tip Joey, girls love gay/mixed clubs so they can avoid men trying to hit on them for just accidently looking in their direction

Perhaps Ibiza isn't for you!

One of the best things about Ibiza is it's diversity of people.
It's one of the reasons I keep going back....

Treat people as they treat you and enjoy.8)

TBH there are a lot of guys who wouldn't go to La Troya / Matinee etc because they are predominantly gay nights. Not necessarily because they are homophobic, but just because they are on holiday to pull girls and going to a gay club isn't their personal choice. I don't think it's fair to jump on the guy for asking that, maybe he could have worded it better i.e not using the word "avoid" ! but he is asking a pretty straightforward question, he doesn't deserve to get lynched for it!

No one's getting lynched here... it's actually a pretty calm discussion.
(funny that you'd use that term though  ;))

Of course, if you don't want to go to La Troya or Matinee then you don't go... free will and all that. Might want to avoid Bora Bora too as there's often a good gay contingent... of course, then you'd be missing one of the best places on the island! :?

What makes me laugh about people posting that they don't want to go to gay/mixed nights cos they'll feel uncomfortable is that do they really think they are so goddamnsexy that the gays will be trying it on with them regardless of their sexuality

Word of advice DJ Joey, just cos you're a bloke it doesn't mean all the gays will be after you

but to be fair people, your being a bit harsh. he asked a simple question. the spotlight calendar doesnt particularly advertise nights as being gay or straight etc. we're a diverse bunch on this board but you shouldn't assume someone is being ignorant or think they are so goddamsupersexythatalltheboys wanna pull them.

i look like a troll but probably wouldn't go to a historically gay night like la troya. thats not cause im a a homophobe its just that id rather not go. if i was a homophobe i wouldn't be in ibiza.

dont make argumentative discussions for the sake of it. you could have answered his question easily with one post.

I don't have a problem with people wanting to avoid the gay parties as such, but I was more offended by the wording of this post - looking for 'like minded people' who want to avoid gay friendly parties just didn't come across very well.

The fact that he needed to qualify his post with 'I'm not a homophobe' indicates that he himself realised that this wasn't the best worded post he could have written.

Next time maybe write 'Which parties on the island are predominantly gay?'.

Have to agree ;)

so, if all the gays are always after you, does that mean, therefore, that, in fact, you are "goddamnsexy":?
