Carl Cox at Space

10 May 2004

After the massive success of last year’s Tuesday residency, July 20th sees Carl Cox return to Space, showcasing tracks from his forthcoming artist album ‘The Second Sign’, and showing young pretenders to his throne exactly why he’s earned the title of Ibiza’s favourite DJ.

The residency’s successful mid-week move last year established it as an Ibizan mecca, with hordes of clubbers seizing their only chance to catch the techno wizard live on the island. “The music and crowd combined to create an unforgettable atmosphere,” Carl smiled after last year’s closing party. “The next 12 months gives me time to recover and start making plans so that next year can be bigger and better than ever before.”

That year has finally arrived, after 2003 was critically acclaimed and hailed as “the best night on the island” by punters and professionals alike, Carl has decided not to mess with the winning formula and returns to play 7 exclusive dates at the Ibizan institution over the course of the summer. This time offering a combination of three-deck mixing, international guests and football themes all inspired by the summer’s Campeonatos Europeos (European Championships).

Things kick off on the terrace @ 8pm every night, with a different Euro 2004 squad providing the inspiration for each night. Portuguese party starter DJ Vibe defends the decks at the launch, with further guests, including Laurent Garnier (France), Michel De Hey (Holland), Cristian Varela (Spain), Angels Of Love (Italy), and Monika Kruse (German), all stepping up to take a shot on behalf of their national teams.

Those taking advantage of the Terrace-top celebration on July 27th can expect an extra special treat courtesy of Marco Bailey (Belgium), as he and Carl whip the White Isle into a frenzy to celebrate the deck-masters birthday.

Guests confirmed:

20th July DJ Vibe (opening party)

27th July Marco Bailey (Carl's birthday)

3rd August Angels of Love / Italy

10th August tbc

17th August Michel de Hey

24th August Monika Kruse

7th Sept Cristian Varela (closing party)

It's by far and away my favourite night.

I tend to get there at about 10.30pm-11pm, as it's only 15 euros to get in (well was last year) and you'll arrive when Cox is really giving it his all on the terrace.

You're in for a treat as Space is the way all clubs should be.
