Last year we hired a Ford Focus for 1 week with a/c and that was £90 this year they want like £160 for the same?....extreme inflation!!

anyone suggest a good cheap hire company/website to use this year??

I was quoted over £400 by Hertz for 2 weeks in July, £300 by 2 other companies but finally went back to my old favourite through the link on my site and got a bargain at £198
Worth a try!

I paid 20 Euros a day for my rental (5-door, AC, CD-radio). Booked through Hispacar.

How was your experience with them? I believe I told you about them after I had gotten my reservation at a cheap price. How was the cust. svc, car, insurance, etc?

sorry to half steal the thread but is it possible to hire a car for just one day? and can i do this easily while im there?

Probably. I don't see why not, unless some companies have a minimum during peak season. Your best bet is to check out their websites:

http://www.amigoautos.com

http://www.motoluis.com

I would advise booking in advance, just so you don't have to worry about it when you get there.

I had already booked when we had that conversation. Service with Centauro was great. Went straight to the counter a few meters from the baggage carousel! Signed a paper, got my key, went to the parking lot and drove away.

Full insurance (despite Hispacar telling me there was a 150 euro deductible... I think by the time you booked, they had changed that notice.) Nice, clean car. Helpful operator when I called about my early-morning drop-off... just parked the car and dropped the key. They said the gasoline refund would be automatic (still have to check).

Very good experience.

Awesome news! Thanks for the response.

I used them in May and they refunded the fuel deposit with a slight adjustment for the changing euro rate - don't like the new multi storey parking though - lifts not big enough for two people and luggage trollies

thanks guys, hispacar were great last year actually paid for a clio or equivalent with a/c and grabbed our cases straight over to the window, got keys and to our surprise it was a nice new focus sports! for £90 the week superb.......just gona have a look now holidayautos.co.uk seem to be coming up with a good price of £105 at the mo so will keep looking! 8)

DO NOT use Hiper Car - Amigo Autos use them - prepare for a 2hr wait for your car in the blazing sun
I used Hiper through Carjet last year and only waited about 30 minutes in their air conditioned office. The downside was that they aren't at the airport and you have to take a shuttle to their office (and you have to allow some time to turn your car in when you're leaving)

we had the 2hrs wait with hipercar, too, last year. no fun. and lots of complaints from others about the condition of their cars etc.

oh, don´t take the shuttle, it´s a 5min walk - lots faster than waiting 30mins until that friggin shuttle arrives.

we´re doing betacar again this year - at least you know what you get

i used carjet.com very good .on airport.no messing.
Booking agencies like Carjet, Hispacar, etc. don't actually rent you the car. They set you up with their rental agency of choice.

When I used Carjet, they sent me to Hiper. My experience with Hiper was ok (not great, but they didn't hassle me about the dings and scratches I put in 3 fenders  ), but as you see above, others had less favorable experiences.

When I used Hispacar, they sent me to Centauro. Very good experience with them.

I'm sure either Carjet or Hispacar could send you to another rental agency, depending on availability and the list of firms with whom they're working at any given time.

btw - we just booked via hispacar. cost for the first week in september (aircon, radio, class Ford Ka etc) 155,- euro, handling is via centauro

holiday cars wanted 175, betacar and the rest around 200 upwards

Last year, HiperCar was a nightmare. More than 4 hours wait!!!! It ruined our first day (and then we realized that Bora Bora was closed!)
