Car Advice Needed Please

Hi, not posted for a while but I need some advice please.

I've been driving my old car for just over 2 years but now I've got a few years no claims under my belt I thought I would buy something a bit quicker.

I've got about £8000, it can be no bigger than a 1.8 and can't really be any higher than insurance group 9 because it will kill me on the insurance.

I quite fancy an MG ZR but am not too sure.

Any advice or recommendations would be much appreciated

Do not buy an MG.

Will not be worth the petrol in it's tank by the time you come to sell it.

I bought the wife an MGTF convertible for xmas six month before mg went bust. It cost 16k - it's now worth about 6 /7k and it only has 13k miles on the clock.

I'm not a big car buff, I drive a landrover:p , so I'm not the best person to ask what cars are good and bad perfromance wise, but financially don't buy an MG.

MGs are a pile of ****e, if your after a hairdressers car why not go for the Mazda MX5?

with your price range why not try looking at Honda Civics R-Type or the Seat Leon Cupra R???

I'd love a Civic Type R but the insurance is too high and the same with the Cupra R aswell. I just really don't know what to look out for.

I want something a bit different. I do like 206's but I see so many of them on the road.

I was looking at an Audi A3, but for the sort of money I have got to spend, the mileage on them is silly

Any more suggestions from anyone?

Get a Mini Cooper S!!:D They are great!:D
(I think you can get one second-hand for this price?:? )

Dont underestimate the speed of the Mini!:D

I love Minis, my very first car was a Mini and if I ever put myself back on the roads again 8O then I'd get a Mini.

Isn't TheChirpster a boy tho, Minis are girlie cars

I do love mini's. There so much choice out there but I just can't think of anything that takes my fancy.

I'm going to have the car for probably about 4 years or so, so I'd prefer a car with quite a low mileage, but one that will be reliable.

if u get a mini, make sure there some of the TLC service pack left on it. most people buy it when the car is new it costs £100 and u get 3years/50,000miles servicing for that one payment, even if its nearing the end of the term, u can take out a further option to extend it up to 80,000miles.

not heard of any major faults with the MINI. remember underneath its really a BMW ;)

What about a Civic 1.6 Sport?

Nippy enuf and the Looks of the type R without the insurance tag!

Got a two year old one with 13K miles just over a year ago for £8900, prob get one even cheaper now that the new model is out!
