Cancun, Mexico - anyone been?

If you want to go to Mexico dont go to Cancun.
If you want to go to America by the sea go to Cancun.
My friends went to some exclusive hotel a couple years back there. I was very jealous when i saw their pics that had Kylie in them at their hotel by the pool....but then a lot less jealous when they pointed out that P Diddy was there too

If you're planning a trip to Cancun just pay attention to the time of year you're going. All the references to crazy American's and frat style parties are because Cancun is an extremely popluar college (uni to you!) spring break spot. If you go in March/April you'll find that type of atmosphere. Also, if you go in June there is a huge jazz festival that attracts P-Diddy and his cronies so if you're not into that scene don't go then.
However, Cancun has the most amazing beaches. Absolutely beautiful white sand, turquoize blue water.. unbelievable. You can find a large number of activities that will help you to learn about the Mexican culture. There is a wonderful trip to Ixpata where you can see the ruins of the pyramids from Aztec times. I would highly recommend that.
Also, the rest of the Carribean is beautiful as well. So if you want to go in the spring or early summer and don't want to deal with the "crazy Americans" then try one of the Virgin Islands. They have all inclusive packages there as well.

I've been to cancun. imagine tenerife but nicer full of loud americans, I wouldn't go back stick to beefa
Mexico is absolutely gorgeous. If you're looking for a nice romantic vacation, head just south of Cancun to the Mayan Riviera. Cozumel is just across the bay-consider that too. The Mayan Riviera is nice- I went last year and stayed near Playa del Carmen, which is about a 45 minute drive south of Cancun. It's nice and peaceful, with many activities to do, and it's close enough to Cancun to go in for a day to party. Cancun is really crazy all times of the year, even when spring break isn't going on. The clubs are really crazy.
The Caribbean is absolutely gorgeous! Look into a few different places- Aruba, St Thomas, St. Martin, the Grand Caymans. They're all spectacular!

Don't go to Cancun during March. As I am an American, I can attest to the fact that it is nothing but a bunch of 19 year olds getting drunk and throwing up all over the place while MTV is blaring Nelly and Juvenile Back that Azz up. What a hell hole.
Do go at other times of the year to avoid American college kids.
Also, if you are ever going to the Bahamas, don't go to Grand Bahama Island. It is a dump.

Hey i just got back from Mexico. And we stayed in Playa del Carmen(near Cancun), which was very tourist orientated....lots of conservative overweight Americans. The best thing we did was rent a jeep and drive through the many nature reserves they have there, sleeping in very cheap cabanas right on the beach. Swimming naked on the many deserted beaches, seeing the most amazing bird life, snorkeling, kayaking, watching sunrises and sets. So that when we came back to playa del carmen we more than ready to do some partying with some of the finest and purest i have have ever had. didn't hear a decent house tune whilst i was there....loads of R&B. Did almost fall of the top of a bar after too much tequila!!
