How come Monday is ridiculously large compared to other nights;
Ammnesia- Cocoon
Pacha - Swedish Hosue Mafia
Privelege - Tiesto
Space - Monday Calling aka Toolroom/ possible Sanchez
DC10 - circo loco

whilst on other nights theres only a couple of big acts
e.g. Saturday - Defected @ Pacha and possibly Hed Kandi @ Es Paradis
e.g. Wednesday - Morrillo @ Pacha and Be@Space.

Surly it would of made sense for one of the nights on Monday to shift, and possible see better numbers?????

Monday is HUGE! A lot of people take long weekends.... so go Friday to Tuesday.

Also, a lot of people go to Ibiza and don't go out every night - maybe just 2 or 3 big nights.... so if the night is solid... then many people choose Monday to go out...

Saturday is the worst night of the week in Ibiza! Why? Because your Tongs, SHM, Sven etc are making £$€10,000s elsewhere in Europe and the World. You can sell out a Monday at Cocoon in Ibiza - you can't do that in London or Berlin mid-week....

Saturday to Saturday is the traditional package tourist market. In General People take holidays in Ibiza weekend to weekend, normally friday to friday or sat to sat.

The Marketing Gurus will tell you that 1 or 2 days after a tourist arrives in a holiday destination is the best time to sell to them.

Most importantly they will have cash in their pockets and are most likely to spend it within the first 3 days. In Ibiza, most clubbing tourists are broke or nearly skint by the last 2 days.

Saturday is the quietest night as people are either arriving with fat wallets and waiting until the next day to go clubbing, or are going home skint!

it's nothing to do with this.

it's simply to do with the fact that on friday and saturday, as said earlier, DJs get $$$$$ to play at club nights in towns and cities around the world who have a proper weekend.

in ibiza in summer, the party is every night, so it's better that they do something there midweek and still collect their payday on the weekend.

this is exactly why saturdays are quiet and mondays are busy.

DJs also obviously cost a lot less on a monday than they do on a saturday. supply/demand, etc

also, people taking package holidays for a set amount of days (sat to sat or wed to wed) is very much the exception rather than the norm. cheap flights, internet just makes independent travel so much easier and ultimately transforms the idea of selling to people when they've just arrived.

look at cream and guetta, two of the best selling parties and they're at the end of the week.

Cheers for all the responses,
they make sense, just annoying from a clubbing point of view.
I think I'll be heading towards Cocoon as its a safe bet, (esp after seeing the price of SHM).
But would also like to see Tiesto (seen him once before at creamfields, but would quite like to see him at Privelege, just to tick that box off!!!).... Moral of the story is Tiesto should shift his night.... could possibly benefit him!!!!

thanks

Surely the reason certain nights are full of top acts is competition. The clubs have to put their most popular nights against the most popular of the other clubs in order to compete for punters.

Cocoon
Swedish House Mafia
Tiesto

are all fairly different to each other....so the style of music being played varies sufficiently.

Cocoon and DC10 are about as close to a clash as you get, then again a lot of people do both anyway....

totally illogical argument.

e.g. cocoon and circoloco have been going 10 years and started as small ripples before making big waves, same could be said of SHM.

and as scott said, all 4 aren't direct clashes.

moreover, if possible, i think most clubs would prefer to have a chockablock tuesday rather than scrap it out on another day. lots of variables though, dj availability, club availability, who the promoter is, what the current agenda is, what the cost of the party would be on monday compared to tuesday.

1000 people at your party on monday might be better than 1500 on tuesday, depending on what they cost of the event is. DJs don't work on fixed hourly rate of course!

Some of the fees we used to pay out Dusted on Fridays at Eden amazed me, but it never occurred to me that part of it was that they actually could be earning back home on a Friday:idea:

I still just can't see the SHM bubble popping any time soon. I know we (this board) give them a bad press, but we ain't representative of most visitors to IBZ...
