The island premium for cars seems be be around X3 what you would pay for the equivalent car in the UK.

Has anyone got any experiences good or bad of buying a used car on the island or on mainland Spain to bring over here? Any help on the subject greatly appreciated.

Regarding this try pm'ing Warren D he is an expat who should be able to help really helpful geezer.
 
The price of SH cars here go`s up and down dramatically with the time of year, A €600 "shed" in winter will often go for getting on 2 g in June/July/August but as a general rule you can save 30% ish by going to mainland, Also bear in mind with "Island cars" They have usually had a tough life :spank: (There`s quite a lot of German imports, These are usually better)
Also when buying a car be sure to use a decent Gestoria (I use Unidad, Santa eu) You can do it yourself, But I prefer someone else to make sure all back tax`s/fines etc are paid otherwise you can get landed with them, with transfer tax`s etc, this will ad to cost,

To add, You will see private cars with phone numbers in windows (no "for sale" or price, It`s illegal) They are for sale :) There`s also the Diario & a FB group for more sh,
