BURNING MAN FESTIVAL!

You're absolutely right....I haven't been to Ibiza yet! July 2005 will be my first time and I am VERY EXCITED....I have no doubt that it will be one of the coolest things I will ever do, however Burning Man I don't think can ever be topped.....in my opinion! I might be pleasantly suprised! You live in San Diego....you are pretty close to the Burning Man Festival! I encourage you to check it out as well, and then we can talk about it sometime.....I'd be curious to know how you thought the 2 places stacked up! See you in Ibiza (or Burning Man) PachaGirl!

Oh, and I am really excited about Bora Bora....I hear it is amazing....and next summer, I am going to the real Bora Bora.....uh, well, the island that is....if that's the real thing! :)
 
Well I have never been to Burning Man either Mike, so who am I to say. I am just prejudiced because NOTHING fathomable tops Ibiza in my book. :D Sounds like a killer time for sure. I'll add it to my list along with Carnival in Brazil, and the Full Moon Festival parties in Thailand. :D
 
Oh and PS...... BORA BORA IS THE $HHHHHHHHHIIIIIIIIIITTTTT lol. You are going to LOVE IT!!!!!!!! When there was talk a few months back of it closing down and Gee posted his goodbyes on the website, I literally got teary eyed. Thats how special it is to me and to everyone who has been. I have friends who take their soundsystem out most years, and believe me, the last thing they are going to play is the Grateful Dead ! :D

I understand how easy it is to be biased towards something you love so much! That is how I am with BM obviously! I too have high hopes for Carnival one day....And even full moon parties in Goa and Thailand! Along with several other massive gatherings! I dunno, but if you're going to do the Burning Man thing one day, I suggest you do it here in the very near future! Don't know how long it will continue on....and it would be a shame not to see it before it disappears for good! Carnival will always be around....so I encourage you to make your pilgrimage to the desert ASAP! Cool to finally interact with the legendary Pacha Girl.....you are definitely a majority poster on this forum....have seen you in a lot of threads! Take care, and look forward to chatting more!

No Burning Man for me this year, laying low besides one little vacation this summer. 8)

I think you are making the right choice... but its always changeable, yes? When you get to Ibiza ask people what they think too.
 
You're missing out...but I understand how it goes....maybe next year! Anyhow I will let you know what I decide....should be fun whatever I choose!

If you like gathering people living to the top, or sharing fabulous experiences related to electronic music, sunsets on stunning locations, fantastic beaches, very lovely places as Ibiza Town, etc, you'll love Ibiza. If you go there with the thought "this will hardly beat my Burning Man festival", you'll probably get many objections. So take it as a different thing, not a comparison, and you'll live it up for sure. 8)

Now in my opinion, but just an opinion, I doubt a desert can beat a gorgeous island like Ibiza. ;)

I think you'd be suprised at just how amazing the Black Rock Desert is! Not only is it beautiful in scenery...but in the other things that make the experience....like the people and the art....and...???? You wouldn't understand unless you've been, as it isn't something anyone can explain! There is just a certain energy that the desert possesses and radiates!
And you're absolutely right.....I shouldn't compare the two on how they stack up....I have no intentions of it actually! I plan on going and storing this trip as "IBIZA".....not a comparison to the desert! I guess the whole reason I responded to this post to begin with, is because I see so many cool people in this forum, who obviously like big parties and beauty and craziness and being free.....and I think that they should experience Burning Man first hand....because there aren't too many Europeans that I meet there every year, and there is nothing like this going on anywhere else on this Planet! There should be more who get to experience what the desert has to offer.....It is more than just a good time.....It is a change of perspective on almost everything you've ever known in life! I am definitely excited for the white isle.....the experience will undoubtedly be incredible thanks to all the cool people of this forum! Thanks for the advice TigerVlc, you offer a very good point!.....see ya in Ibiza!
 
As Burning Man seems to be a place for alternative people, here's another advice: in Ibiza you can find places with people with an alternative/bohemian or even flamboyant attitude (the non-materialist hedonists), and places full of wannabees and posh people (materialist hedonists). Better get information on how to get to ones and avoid others. But in many of them you can find both.

I hope you have a great stay on the island!
 
Yeah....I think I'm going to let whatever happens in Ibiza happen......from other advice I've gotten, we shouldn't seek anything out or make any sort of plans.....cause I understand they will change once we get there anyway! Seeking out Alternative/Bohemian styles or people are pointless because we will be at Burning Man 3 weeks after our return from Ibiza! While we're on the White Isle, we will instead take advantage of the nightlife and all of the amazing sunsets! I have no doubts that we will have a great stay on the Island......Only 45 days away! 8)
