BURGLARISED....

Got home from work on Friday, friendly neighbourhood burglars have popped in for a visit.

Kicked the two back doors in nicked loads:

Playstation
DVD
All the wife's Tiffany jewellery I bought her for our wedding day last year
Her extensive collection of jewellery she's bought over the years, most
of it costume jewellery - all of it loved like friends
My Mountain Bike
My new northface rucksack, which the obviously used to cart the stuff away in.
Electirc drill and loads of other gear which i keep not finding when i go to get it and going "doh!"
They even emptied a sweetie jar full of change and left the sweetie jar.
8O

The worst thing is the fact my missus is terrified of staying in the house, (a few years ago she was burgled whilst she was in the house - the burglar bashed her up a bit) . We're half way through rennovating our "dream home" and now it's all fcked up.

Anyone been in a similar situation? Have people ever stayed somewhere after they were burgled??

All in all a poor weekend ;)

Really sorry to hear this Mark.

I can only try and imagine how you both feel as we've never been in this situation (apart from my office being robbed :x )

Sounds like a good excuse for a last minute holiday ;)

Let's hope they catch the pikey tw@ts.

That's terrible, really sorry to hear that Mark, funking (unts.

I can understand why your wife is scared of being in the house now (the long-term affects of burglary go beyond what is stolen which can in most cases be replaced but the total invasion of YOUR privacy) but it's one of those situations where if she doesn't stay in the house she's going to become more and more paranoid about it, it's a case of getting back on a horse when you've fallen off (I think that's the wrong saying but you get what I mean :? ) Can you do any extra security measures to reassure her, make sure she's not home alone at all??

That's terrible Mark. Hope the good lady is ok (and your goodself).

Got burgled regularly in Manchester but a student house full of blokes is not really a home anyway. Never felt scared because there was rarely less than 3 of the 7 of us in. They only ever nicked the telly OR video so we just get a new one of both from the rental firm, sell the original that wasn't nicked and go on the piss with the proceeds.

Guess that doesn't help, so how about getting a bloody big dog? I'm sure Leese would agree it'd make Mrs B feel safer...

u saying leese would make a good guard dog?

soz to hear bout it mark... scumbags.

Cheers guys, I'm leaving work in an hour as I've got a few companies coming round to give me estimates for new security doors.

I may even have to go to the vets as one of our cats has been limping since the incident, we think the gentlemen who visited us gave it a kick, as it's been hiding away all weekend.

I'd love to get a big dog, but the cats may have other ideas

Hopefuly i don't get carrying away and turn our house into fort knox. I started enquring about steel security doors on saturday and sort of realised they might look a bit odd on our old victorian terraced house. :P

Anyone know where i can get a couple of tiger cubs and/or a minefield.

luckily mate, never been done (touch wood), my brother is a spark and worked for adt for a while so allt he houses have been fitted with state of the art securuty as a matter of course, I would advise anyone else who hasnt yet, to do the same. My heart goes out to you both thouh, fookin scummers!!!!!

Awwww...mate, sorry to hear that. Dunno what to say really- I've never been burgled. Hope everything gets better/back to normal for you both soon.

Oh mate that's horrible - but I know where you are coming from. We have been burgled 3 times - its not nice. I hope Mrs B is gonna be ok and the poor cat.... give her a puppy hug from moi....

First two time were traumatic enough - first time - a friday night - much the same as you - kicked in the back door and took everything. 3 weeks later - burgled again - arses!! The insurance money hadnt even come through so nothing had been replaced long term, just borrowed stuff until i could replace the stuff nicked first time. Thick b@st@rds!!!! Got two dogs after the second incident

Third time was the worst, we went away for our first Wedding Anniversary to the Lake District and took the dogs with us. Left the house at 5.00pm in a taxi with dogs, burgled at 5.15pm!!!

We only went away for one night, we came back to watch the England vs Holland match during the world cup - got home and they had taken everything they could, gone through all our personal stuff, wardrobes, drawers - I though a lot of stuff out that I couldnt face wearing as I knew it had all been touched and raked through by the scummy tw@ts...... Consequently didnt even get to watch the football match.....

When the police came that night to investigate and asked us our movements, turned out it was the taxi firm who took me to meet Phil to set off on our jaunt.....

So sorry for you dude

Same thing happened to us 2 years ago :(

He took my PS2, her jewellery and used my Da Kine bag to haul it away with...

He was caught 3 months later from cross referencing his training shoe print and went down for 3 years after 40 offences were matched to him.

We had new double glazing and a new alarm fitted after the event..

The emotions will fade over time - hope you get through it OK.

One thing the feds did say to us was that no burglar wants to be disturned so leaving lots of signs that the house is occupied - outside light on, tv on, radio on etc. can act as a good deterrent.

Our electricity bill is now MUCH higher

cheers dude! and to you all with your reassuring comments. Didn't half need them.

Why we cant kick the shit out of them if we catch them? the sooner that law comes in the better.

Luckily i havent had my house burgled, and i would be sick to the stomach if i was, but have had my car done over a few times.

These arseholes need much tougher sentancing, that is the problem, most are teenager who will get about 5 warnings before anything can be done, and even if they do get a custodial sentance then it will be a piece of pish.

That's dreadful Mark, probably everybody's worst fear.

My son & I always leave a light on with the curtains shut and radio on whenever we go out with no-one left in the house. Course my house looks like a dump compared to my neighbours (up for sale for £150k) so nobody's interested in mine. ;)

I am really sorry to hear that Mark. At least the wife or any other loved one was not at home. I think the only reactive measures that one can possibly take in the UK are having an electronic security system or having a guard dog.

BTW, I am curious to find out are electronic security systems connected to the local LEA (Law Enforcement Agency)? Can someone offer me their insight?

Thanks.
