I think X-Box 360 will win out eventually. PS2 currently owns 56% of the North American Games Console market, with XBox losing out with just 17% (Gamecube is 16%, all figures IIRC :) ).

XBox will win because of its XBox Live platform. XBox 360 is going to integrate your living room with the internet, its all part of Microsoft's strategy to take over the world. Who will make the best games console? Hard to decide until you can play them, I reckon the trend will be the same, XBox 360 will be more advanced, but more software houses will side with PS3 cause everyone hates Bill Gates and the games for Microsft will be more limited. They still haven't made any money from the original XBox. But Xbox is gonna become more of a living room accesory much like your VHS was. It won't be confined to teenagers bedrooms. And thats where Microsoft will swing it. I think.

From all the stats I've seen PS3 is a much faster machine due to it's new Cell technology (read the article I posted earlier in this thread). It will have network gameplay enabled, it will be able to act as a media centre (it'll support a 2.5inch harddrive), it has bluetooth and wifi connectivity and it has the added advantage of having over 80million installed seats (ie PS2s), much more than XBox. Everyone has their eyes on the prize of the convergent digital lounge, so it's certainly not a strategic insight that only microsoft have. Take a look at www.gametrailers.com to see the difference in the sophistication of games coming out, too, and I wouldn't be too quick to write off Sony...

One things for sure, it's gonna be an interesting contest. Microsoft are gonna launch the XBox 360 long before the PS2, and they are planning on coinciding the launch of Halo 3 with the launch of PS3. Time will tell, i think it's a bright future for gaming :)

I've had one since December and it's funking excellent 8)
Great to take the boredom away from train journey up to London clubbing and flights to Ibiza!
Don't underestimate the portability element, since when could you play on the xbox sat on the loo or in bed ;)

Currently playing Tiger woods golf and Pro Soccer :D

Cool.

We're talking about X-Box 360's vs PS3 though, not PSP.

PSP's do look cool, way better than those little Nintendo things.

I thought the topic started with the PSP?

Anyway FWIW I will get the 360 when it come out as I have always prefered the x box over PS2 unless of course there is a way that the PSP and PS3 will link up?

Rumour has it you'll be able to broadcast games from the PS3 straight onto a PSP...
