BORA BORA PETITION

Right, we are all gutted about BORA BORA shutting but what we gonna do about it???

Space has effectively stolen the essence of Ibiza by doing its best to close down Bora Bora because they saw it as some kind of threat! Ibiza has historically been the island of tolerance where hundreds of hippies, artists, homosexuals and bohemian types fled Franco's fascist regime, this is part of the reason why Ibiza is still so special today... where the f*** is the tolerance in closing down an inoffensive beach bar that gave so many people so much pleasure?

We've helped to make Ibiza what it is and lined Space's pockets along the way and they have taken the best thing about Ibiza away from us!!! We have the power to get DJ Gee back to Playa D'en Bossa if we can organise some kind of online petition.

We should not accept this blatant injustice.

So who's in?

We've had this suggestion before, if you search for the word 'boycott' you will find it!!

As nice as the idea is it really won't work

A petition won't bother the powers that be. An empty club would, but thats really not going to happen. Half of this forum will be at the opening of Space in a few months time and the rest will be there at some point this year, myself included.

Just looking at our micro-community, most ibiza party people feel strongly about the Bora Bora issue but realise we can't do anything about it!!

Also Gee has said he wont return already

I'm just feeling soooo lucky to have spent five beautiful years there  .

Gimme a petition anyway and I'll sign, it can't hurt after all!

Hi Stuie,

Appreciate your comments but surely its worth a try and even if Gee doesn't want to return the coast will be clear for Bora Bora to play music freely in the future?

There will be a petition soon guys, go to www.boraboraibiza.com for more news...

Are you kidding me?? No Bora Bora??

I've never been to Ibiza...friends have, but this will be my first year there. Are you telling me that the one place that I've been looking forward to going is not going to be open? That really sux. At least we'll be there for opening night of Manumission.

A petition in theory is a good idea but as someone else said it isn't going to change anything, as sad as it is and I am gutted but I think Bora Bora as we all remember it will never return as there are too many factors that have contributed to the shutdown last summer. I have very good memories of my last day there and have it all on video, glad I took my vc that day!!!

I went to Sunday at Space for the first time in Septmeber last year which is crazy really because I have being visiting Ibiza anually for the last 5 years but flights etc and heavy Saturday nights always prevented us from getting there b4. I have to say I won't be going again it really didn't do it for me, it lacked atmosphere and I thought the price to get in was ridculous and I actually left and went over to Bora Bora. I have heard from some Space veterans that Space isn't was it used to be, is that right???

Sadly without Bora Bora day time clubbing is over for me and depending on how my 2 visits for 2005 go dare I say it could be my last year!
Maybe Im getting older but I feel that things are really changing closure of BB etc etc. But then again I might have a blinder this year and my faith could be restored, never say never!

However for what it cost the 2 of us for 2 weeks last year and that wasn't going out every night we could start broadening our horizons to different hol destinations.
Last year blew just over £3,000 accomodation, flights and spending dosh!

Hi,

Its closed because they have a coffee-concert licence and they have been working as a club. The coffee-concert licence doesn't allow people dancing in a dance floor. Some time ago,the police just gave a fine to the bar. When the bar payed the fine, they could continue to open. Right now,the police have taken the equipment and those bars can't continue playing music any longer. Seven bars have been affected including KM5, DC10 and Kumharas and of course, Bora Bora.

If those bars want to reopen, they have to get a club licence, which will force them to adapt the places(security requirements and schedules) as a club.

The disco 'mafia' or Space, Pacha etc have been on the police's case to enforce this licensing rule

At the moment I am trying to find out about the possiblity of Bora Bora getting a club licence.

are you part of Bora Bora's management?

i believe DC10 has solved its problems?

Hi Stuie,

I fail to see why my post is offensive to taste and decency? I was attempting to answer the queries of eivissa lad and jersey boy. Maybe if you don't like the chat about helping Bora Bora to re-open you shouldn't read this thread?

Yes DC10 have solved their problems but that doesn't change the fact that they were affected and threatened by these same licensing laws.

No, I am not part of Bora's management (don't think you have to be to get some info about club licensing?) but I'm beginning to think you may have something to do with Space's...

What is your problem anyway? 8O

I reckon Space have probably got the most to gain by getting these licencing rules applied as the clubs are so close and fighting for the same day time clubbing crowd and with there being no restrictions at BB and it being free alot of people go there rather than Space or get a pass out from Space and go across there. If BB can't operate it will mean more business for Space the greedy sods as it will be the only place for daytime clubbing in Playa den Bossa so its in there interests to get the licences applied/the place shut down. As I said in a previous post I personally don't rate Space, BB for me had a better atmosphere. better tunes and the sound system was better.
I wonder what the Island officials/councils etc are trying to do to the clubbing industry of the Island with the enforcement of closure/licence changes for BB, DC10 etc and I hear the powers that be are talking of the clubs closing at 6am too and then there are noise restrictions ie: the terrace roof and noise level at Space!

 Starchick, Stuie's comment about 'taste and decency' is in his signature, not aimed at you! It's a comment about a minor feud going on, utterly unrelated to this!

     apologies for the confusion, that text as ginger pointed out, is infact in my signature.

i am nothing to do with the managment of space

i have signed your petition already today before i read your post to me.

I asked if you were part of Bora Boras management because you said you were looking into the possiblity of obtaining a club license. I just thought that is something the management should take care of, if they wish to do so.

and for the record i would love to see Bora Bora re-open as it used to be but i am certainly not holding my breath and do not think it is the be all and end all of ibiza.

happy holidays starchick :P
