Bora Bora in trouble

We were there earlier. Music came on at 1630, police turned up at 1700 and down it went :(

Was that 3 coppers? I was in Dunes having a couple of beers and saw them walking about. First time I've seen police this week. Just thought they were being visible to keep the dealers out of the way with the amount of people walking towards Ushuaia.

It was 2 to start with, then a few more came down. They looked like they meant business - gave a bit of grief to one guy who clearly wasn't doing anything wrong!

^^ It's what it stands for - killing Bora Bora just as Space is about to be ousted is almost like they're stood in wait to wipe out what's left of the old once and for all ...

Think thats whats actually happening? The whole Bora Bora thing doesn't seem to be getting that much attention from anything really. I understand its kinda went downhill the last few years but Bora Bora itself is one of those Ibiza staples. Has it not actually been going longer than everything else??

These authorities are focusing on the wrong shit. They let these scumbag pickpockets get away and don't do anything about the aggressive prostitutes yet outdoor partying is their main concern??

The newer ibiza goers all go to jet, they actually think jet IS bora bora, iv seen loads of Facebook pictures the last few years with comments saying #borabora and the photo is at jet pool!

If these places were being closed for genuine reasons I could take it buy there is so clearly so much politics and back handers going on

Exactly, with closing down Bora Bora are they actually gonna clean the WHOLE area? It wont be long till that stretch of road behind Jet/Bora Bora towards Space is looking more and more Las Vegas eh. Las Vegas is hooching with prostitutes i suppose  but it isn't the point. Open air outdoor raving is what made the place and it seems they really do want nothing of the sort anymore unless its in a Matutes complex.

Todays youngsters  I asked some lads on our flight out where they were going and what not, mentioned DC10 and they were like 'Whats that' so i just said never mind and that was that. I read folk on here say its the 'current' government who are cracking down on all the good shit. If the government were to change back (i'm not down with my Spanish politics haha) but if it were would open air raving be back on the menu?

I'd say open air raving would still be 100% popular aye.
But in regards to afters and carry ons, I'm not sure theres a big 'carry on' scene after edm events or am I wrong?

Forgot about afters n what not aye they need to come back too. Nah don't think EDM kids are into afters, theres not enough confetti and ice cannons going on. Its just criminally wrong what is going on with everything. As someone said Bora Bora shutting is pretty BIG regardless of what direction its went. It could easily be one of the best again with good people behind it. The Antz lot should get the hell out of Ushuaia and take it over. Bora Borants or some shit i dunno  Just shite its been basically shut down.

I read somewhere that the government doesnt want Ibiza turning into Vegas, but they sure seem like they are doing their best to do just that. Ushuaia and the VIP flourishes, PDB looks more and more like the Vegas strip, and the smaller parties are shut down. You need balance on the island, but I don't get it.

Also, to be fair to Vegas, at least the government works with the nightlife industry. They have day parties without time limits, no curfew and afterhours. Too bad the music policy is horrible.

It's a shame isn't it?

What Ibiza is doing follows the model of what other party places (mainly places where spring breakers go) do when they're trying to change face. Right now the government is using every excuse they can to hassle the venues that give them the most problems while slowly but surely building up their case against the others. You have to believe that their trying to leverage the Space closing in this, too. Then, only after they've shut down all the party venues violating the law will they take care of the petty crime.

Now having been, I could certainly understand them trying to make places Ibiza town and even San Antonio a bit more family friendly and/or upscale. But I wouldn't wish a family vacation in Playa D'En Bossa on my worst enemy ;)

PDB as a clubbing resort built up around Space, when Space opened in the 80's there weren't other clubs or lively bars, it was much more a family resort, Bora Bora opened later on in 1999 I think, so as Space is closing which is an underground club, then I guess this could also affect the other venues in the area that compliment it by play music that Space clubbers would want to hear..

I read somehwere that Space as a nightclub actually opened in the early 80's, but it was literally a disco, wasn't until 89 along with the acid house boom that it became the club it is today.
