Bombing mosques

some of my best servants have been muslims!!

and naddyz.....the pixies are busy touring, no time to cause civil unrest in the middle east, plus i dont think their brand of post punk, indie psychedelia is the bag of the average mullah ;)

I'm surprised no one made the analogy to Northern Ireland.

Most people there are "Christian" but can you imagine how the place would go off if the Protestants blew up an historic Catholic church?

That's basically what someone wanted to see in Iraq... chaos.

Yes, apparently some idiots forgot to clean the snow off the roof of a big indoor produce market and the roof caved in under the weight. Last count I heard (on Sky last night) was about 50 dead.

Lucky that it happened early in the morning and not during opening hours or it would have been much worse.

 It sounds awful...Moscow is a big place though so I'm hoping you don't know anyone affected by it?

certain people on this board keep making references to "them" and "us" as though Muslims are some kind of sinister breed that us normal people must try and defeat
IMO That's bordering on racism, if not then it's just pure ignorance.

well you have just basically said yourself that Muslims are ab-nornmal? Which is the very rhetoric that divides us.

I hate that kind of attitude like "I dont give a funk what them Muslims are doing as long as it's not affecting me". "Them Muslims" are living amongst us and are just a part of British society as you and me. It's the extremist idiots that have created this perception that Islam is some kind of "bad" religion.

"They" clearly are different, and the IMO podantic comments with a view to what you've just said do nothing to help the debate.

How else would you like to refer to our Muslim brethren? I see as no difference as saying "Yeah, Robbie and Damian went home early... they couldn't hack it...". Is that trying to demonise them? I don't think so.

At best it's a semantical disagreement, at worst it's you putting words/thoughts into peoples posts.

What are you talking about? Where have I said Muslims were abnormal?? I was referring to the way other people are talking about them, as though we are "normal" and Muslims arent.

Other people?? who are they?? Are they like "some people" that we see used in advertising a lot??

But not all Mulims are different though, my best friend is a Muslim and lives the exact same way I do, dresses the same, goes to the same bars/clubs etc. The only difference between us is her religion, and some of the things she practices. IMO that makes her no different to me than another friend of mine who for example doesn't like clubbing and chooses not to go to bars and clubs. Maybe I dont see religion as a big thing to me, I dont think of me and my friend as me being Christian, and her Muslim, it doesn't matter to me, and I would never refer to Muslims as "they" or "them Muslims" or whatever.

And it's not the same as your example above. Comments like "I dont give a funk what they do" "They can all funk off" or whatever people have said in the pats, it's more specific to them being Muslims rather than just a group of people. Say for example someone was talking about gay people rather than Muslims... I would still say the same. I guess its hard to know on the board but there have been posts which I have read as being hostile. Maybe I'm wrong, although I'm sure if they were spoken I wouldnt be proven right!

No, but no-one is seriously suggesting all muslims are in any way bad people, are they?

Tell me if they have?!

It sounded like you were opposed to the language of using "them" and "us", as a principle you were against, when it is quite acceptable to use in replacement of having to type out the howevermany letters of Extremist Muslim every time one likes to refer to them. Essentially I think we all know what people mean.
