of checks on the so-called 'boat party', parties on boats that have sprung "out of control"
and have caused serious inconvenience to users the coast of Ibiza.
The environmental association has asked the Department of Agriculture, Environment and
Territory and Tourism and Sports to act jointly with the Insular Direction of the State
and municipalities to control the activity of floating nightclub, threatening areas
protected by European and regional policy, as indicated in a statement Monday.
In the brief submitted to both Consellerias, the SNB has found that the excursions
that take place in these tourist boats meet dozens and even hundreds of people,
without any measures to prevent noise pollution they cause, as they have a DJ,
stereos "great power" as well as alcoholic drinks leading to a "combination scandalous."
The GEN has criticized that the circuits they use are very close to the coast and some islands,
such as "Es Vedra", "is Vedranell" and other western areas, which protection is incompatible
with this activity.
The group has indicated that this activity is "particularly upset" when performed
during the sunset, as this is the time when "many people" enjoy the tranquility
of the seashore and see their peace disturbed by a " unbearable noise "from the tours.
GEN has said it has received complaints about the scandal generated by these parties
residents with homes that are not "far" in front of the coast, so the environmental group
said that the image given is "deplorable" that cause discomfort and "undeniable".

21 year old Austrian, Stefan Schauer, died aboard a boat last week as he was returning to San Antonio after a trip to Formentera. He began to feel unwell and soon fell unconscious; one of the other passengers aboard attempted to resuscitate the victim, but he failed to respond. According to his friends he had consumed several alcoholic drinks and had taken at least two grams of a non-specified drug. Because of the inaccessibility of the area, the proprietor of a restaurant in ses Illetas was alerted and launched a zodiac to bring the body ashore.
Several web sites promote these party days out, which leave from various points of Ibiza to visit Formentera, costing between 60€ and 120€, with the excursions described as "a trip to the rhythm of the music; the alcohol is abundant, thanks to the free bar, and you will have your inhibitions washed away".
Alejandra Ferrer, the Tourism Councillor, commented that measures will be taken
to control this kind of excursion as they create a large amount of noise,
while those on board are encouraged to drink as much as they like, which causes many to over-do it.
She explained that at least three official complaints have been received by her Department,
as the Las Salinas Natural Park should be a quiet area where visitors can enjoy nature,
and not somewhere to hold rowdy parties.
